Chapter 7: Punished By The Depths

After Steff and Rae-Won confessed that they were the accidental killers of Johnson, Nikki's anger boiled over. She pulled out the sword Wilbur had made for her when she was little and played with Jules, gripping the hilt tightly as she swung it angrily at the duo. "How could you be so careless?!" she yelled, her voice echoing through the caves. "You killed him and you didn't even realize it?! Johnson was our friend!" Steff and Rae-Won hung their heads in shame, knowing they had made a terrible mistake. Nikki paced back and forth, her sword still clutched in her hand, as she struggled to control her anger. She couldn't believe that they had been so reckless, that they had caused the death of someone they all cared about. Suddenly, Nikki's anger took on a different form. She wasn't just angry, she was furious. Her eyes glinted with a wild fire as she raised her sword above her head and screamed, "I'll show you what it feels like to lose everything!" Jules watched in shock as Nikki's behavior became more and more like Wilbur Soot's when he blew up L'Manburg. Nikki was acting out, taking her anger out on the people who had caused her pain. Jules knew that this wasn't the right way to deal with things, but they didn't know how to stop Nikki. Steff and Rae-Won looked scared as Nikki swung her sword around wildly, destroying everything in her path. Jules tried to reason with her, telling her that violence wasn't the answer, but Nikki wouldn't listen. She was too far gone. Finally, after what felt like hours, Nikki collapsed on the ground, her sword clattering beside her. She was exhausted, physically and emotionally drained. Jules sat down beside her, putting a comforting arm around her. They knew that Nikki needed time to process her emotions and come to terms with what had happened.
