[AU]
Himiko managed to find quickly her way back to her cottage and save herself and the big cat from whatever was threatening them. As soon as she slammed the door behind her, she exhausted herself casting all the defense spells she knew all around her cottage.
When she finished, Himiko sat on the floor, tired and scared as ever, her mind racing with so much thoughts. Never in her life Himiko has felt so upset and useless like this.
What if those footsteps were of the Mortal Enemy? What if that creature now is chasing her? What if her master has been killed and now it's her turn?
She felt her eyes watering.
She couldn't bear it, she couldn't stand the thought of the most important person in her life gone forever.Everything was going well, she was improving so much, why is all this happening to her all of a sudden?
All of these worries are getting so much on her nerves, she didn't even notice that the black cat is trying to get her attention, waking her momentarily from the trance of her own mind.
Right, the cat needs help.
"Nyeh... I know, sorry" the young girl sighed heavily, wiping her eyes "come here, I'll help you immediately" she said softly, reaching out her hand to her bag to take a small flask.
She leaned down next to the animal, focusing on the little injuries the cat had. It's paws and head have cuts but nothing her magic couldn't fix.
The cat listened to Himiko's words and drank the magical fluid without problem. Himiko smiled lightly, this cat is intelligent, as if could actually understand what she says.
Perhaps, this strange and turbulent encounter is a sign, this is not the right day to go. There's first a lot of work Himiko has to do before she tries again to leave, especially if the Mortal Enemy is really hunting her now.
Besides, she thought, she can't let that poor cat alone.

A week passed and the black cat recovered fast. It's calm sometimes but also very curious and playful and particularly clingy... too much clingy.
Himiko would found this behavior quite annoying sometimes, especially when she needs to focus on her works, but she convinced herself to be friends with this cute creature, it kept her company and made these days less lonely and depressing.
However, Himiko didn't forget her mission.
During the week, she decided it's for the best to check her surroundings to make sure no danger was around. To be safe, she decided to turn into a little red cat every time she left the cottage (after casting a defense spell so that the house is invisible to the others but her).
Himiko decided though to do only quick checks, to avoid leaving the cat alone for too long.

It's almost evening and Himiko is coming back home. She found nothing strange, no enemies or trace of the Mortal Enemy, but for the entire afternoon she felt weird, like someone is watching her.
It's not a new thing to her, she had this feeling even before her master's disappearance. Himiko never understood if someone was actually spying on them or she was just paranoid.
After a while she arrived is in front of her home, looked around cautiously one last time and there in the distance between the threes, she saw something like a dark figure with big and bright blue eyes staring at her before disappearing.
Himiko froze. She quickly hid inside the cottage by entering through a window that she had left open.
Himiko feels her legs tremble but she tries to focus on what she saw. That figure couldn't be the Mortal Enemy, she remembers perfectly how master described that creature: a slim and tall figure with two big bloody red eyes and a majestic power unknown to all the mages in the world.
Instead, that figure was small, almost the size of a cat, but it's still weird.
Besides the black cat, she has never seen cats in the forest.Himiko thought maybe that was just a trick of the light or perhaps an innocent animal of the forest. That's the only reasonable answer... or she's slowly starting to see things that aren't there. Great.
Suddenly, the black cat approached her, getting close , even more clingy than normal and purring loudly.
'That's weird, why is it so affectionate all of a sudden?' Himiko thought confused.
"Nyeh, did you miss me that much?"
Himiko turned back into her human shape, but doing that the cat got scared so much from the sudden change that it jumped up to the air and crashed into one of the many piles of books that decorate the room, making them all fall on the poor cat. The creature made a small whine.
"HEY! Are you ok?" Himiko went to help the cat but she immediately froze when she noticed the piles of books moving.
The cat is getting bigger.
No wait, it's not getting bigger. It's tuning into a human. A girl with long dark hair with blue and black clothes and... a weird green bandana.
"Ow, my head" a painful groan escaped from that mysterious girl as she opened her green eyes, "Ah!" she gasped looking directly at the redhead. Himiko did the same thing.
Both the girls remained in complete silence before pointing at each other and shouting:
"IT'S YOU?!"
