Hey, everyone! Sorry this chapter took so long to write. I had a lot going on IRL. Finished class for the semester, had a lot of family issues including coming out and then having my mom shove me back in to collect dust (But I still told some more family members so her little plan got screwed over pretty quick.) I'm also doing work for another fic so my motivation to make this chapter was all over the place, but things have finally cooled down some. I wanted to just thank y'all for the name suggestions for our closeted princess. You guys have been so supportive and sweet! I started out with nicknames because it was how I started. I found nicknames a fun way to explore myself and figure out who I wanted to be. The goal I want to do when it comes to our rogue princess discovering herself is to find her own name. She doesn't mind the nicknames Whit and Saffron give her, but she wants to have a name that's her own;something she choose.
For all her life people have chosen for her.
What to wear.
What to do with her time.
Her name.
What her limits are.
What she is.
Now that she's away from that upbringing, she's starting to realize that she no longer has to live by how others want her to. So while she's at the CPC, she'll be thinking about what name is right for her.
So far these have been my favorites that have been rattling in my brain:
Jade-This one I picked because its tone fits her. Jade is one of the toughest stones next to diamond and commonly associated with the color green. Further research says that when you hit a piece of Jade with a rock it rings out like a bell (A quality that lines up with a hobby that Em discovers during her time with the wood nymphs.), has been used to treat illnesses, and its green color is associated with protection of the living and the dead.(Fits into another part of the story.
Marceline-I got inspired to pick this one because I feel that Marceline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time would be Em's favorite singer. She's love everything about her from her style, her confidence, and even start wanting to imitate her scary vibe more.
Louise-Once again, another name inspired from another favorite animated female character. Louise Belcher from Bob's Burgers. I feel like with how Ember's character development is going, I might have unintentionally imbued some of Louise's chaotic nature into her.
Ember-This is my favorite from Whitney's list because of all the cute variations that gives Freddie gender euphoria. I actually want to keep this as a nickname because of it.)
And this is where you guys come in. Which name do you think best suit our girl? Depending if enough readers answer, I might have it be the main name she goes by.
