"Buntis ka ba?"
Iyan agad ang bungad ko bago umupo sa isa sa mga counter stools. Halos naghahabol pa ako ng hininga nang ilapag ko ang mangga at bagoong alamang na pinabili niya sa table. Grabe! Siya na nga lang itong nagpapabili tapos siya pa ang nagsasabing bilisan ko dahil gutom na siya.
She has been acting differently for a few weeks, this is not the Calliope that I used to know. Ang dami niyang cravings na ang hirap hanapin. Simula nang umuwi ako dito sa Pilipinas ay ginawa niya na akong yaya, ako na lang lagi ang nauutusan. Mabuti na lamang at wala akong pasok sa trabaho ngayon kaya nakapunta ako rito.
"Kung ano-anong naiisip mo, gan'yan ba kapag naga-adjust pa sa hangin ng Pilipinas? Paanong mabubuntis, wala nga rito 'yung asawa ko." She said sarcastically as she chuckled while shaking her head.
Hindi na lang ako umimik at pinanood ko na lamang siyang magbalat ng mangga. She cut it all into slices but tried to taste just one, she nodded after tasting a small amount of that portion, showing that she found it to be really delicious. Bawat kagat ay talagang ninanamnam niya.
Sa pangatlong slice na kaniyang kinain, naiba ang ekspresyon ng mukha niya, mula sa sarap na sarap, ngayon ay nakakunot na ang noo. Muli siyang tumingin sa hawak niyang mangga bago ito muling ilagay sa plato.
"Ayoko na pala nito, gusto ko ng sisig na nasa lumpia wrapper," she sighed while my eyes widened in amusement.
Cravings ng hindi normal, nakakakaba, baka sa susunod nilagang paa ng dinosaur na ang ipahanap niya sa akin.
I looked at her seriously. "What if buntis ka nga talaga? From sinigang na may corned beef, chicharon bulaklak na sinasawsaw sa mustard, carbonara na color red o spaghetti na may ham at mushrooms... Ngayon mangga at bagoong alamang, tapos sisig in lumpia wrapper. Okay ka lang ba talaga?"
"Wala naman akong nararamdamang sumisipa. Hindi ako nag-aalala sa period ko, irregular menstruation things, normal naman na delay." She sounded proud, hindi ko na siya kinakaya.
"Kahit na... What if lang since you've been married for more than a year." Pangangatwiran ko.
Hindi na namin natuloy ang pag-uusap namin dahil pareho kaming napatingin sa gawi ng pinto nang may kumatok mula roon. Bubuksan ko sana kaso huli na ako dahil bigla naman nang pumasok si Light.
