Exams ended just a week ago, and as expected Patrick scored the highest. His teachers adored him very much for his excellence and while he gained compliments from his friends, he also received hateful stares and comments from the others. Patrick did not pay too much attention on that as he remains focus to his goal: Make Tatay and Nanay proud.

He has also been trying to call them since last week but the line always end up to voicemail. He suspected that it might be because of the low coverage in his barangay.

One night, Patrick was at his study table busy studying for his subjects tomorrow, when his phone ring.

"Hello?"

"Patrick? Nak? Do you have some spare cash there? Your Nanay got admitted in the hospital. The doctor said that it was probably because of her asthma."

"What? Why did you just tell me now, Tay? I have been calling you since last week. How is Nanay?"

"She's okay now. The doctor said that she can go home already probably the day after tomorrow. What now? Do you have a spare cash? No?"

Patrick took his wallet and check his money. He can't help from scratching his head noticing that he only have ₱200 left. It was supposed to be his allowance for the whole week for he already used most of it in paying his tuition for the sem before the exam.

"Eh, Tay I only have ₱200 left on my wallet. I paid my tuition last week so I can take my exam."

"₱200?!! Tsk, nevermind. I can use that. Just send it immediately"  the call ended.

Having no choice, Patrick did send his remaining money the day after. Trying his best to survive the week, Patrick spend his days attending classes in the morning, taking tutorials in the afternoon, and working at the restaurant in the evening. Patrick often gets home around 10pm and sometimes 12am onwards where tipping also gets a little higher and higher. Although, the payments he gets from doing tutorials and his regular labor in the restau would be enough for him to sustain the week, Patrick still wants to have a little extra to cover for his tuition.

Patrick set his bag on the bed and laid slouch beside it. He still have to take care of his assignments but a little rest wouldn't be that big of a deal, would it? He's tired from all the work and he still have to take care of his studies. A little more and he will die from fatique but he would not let that happen. He has a goal.
