The ministers had surrounded Karna and Duryodhan. Protests were all that was heard and no answers came, for Duryodhana found the necessity to explain his decisions to none. A small smirk was the only answer given, yet the foolish minds of ministers expected more from the Son of the king who has never answered to anyone. While Duryodhana had never cared His new friend did. Even if Karna was in denial from his childhood till now, acceptance was what he ever wanted and the neglection of his skills and denial to accept a Suta as a king was suffocating him. Perhaps Duryodhana noticed this and gestured him to move out of the arena while he deals with the crowd. While Karna was grateful for the offer he shook his head in a no for he felt guilty that the prince had to deal with all this himself. But was dragged by Ashwathama who never found it hesitant to approach someone.
Walking a few minutes in comfortable silence they got to know a lot about each other thanks to there godly observation skills. Ashwathama occasionally gave Karna insights on places and direction thinking he was new to the surroundings. Karna only listened to him, Though well aware of the surroundings Thanks to the often visits with his father, Karna didn't found the heart to stop Ashwathama as he saw the smile that adorned the face of Drauni Who was happy finding a new friend. soon they neared the gardens finding peace in the pleasant scent of flowers A smile lit up Ashwathama's face as he took a deep breath inhaling the aroma of surroundings. The smile was soon replaced by a frown as they saw arjun near the pond, on his knees, Fear stricken face gasping for air. Ashwathama rushed to arjuna's aid followed by an equally worried Karna. "prince" Karna called arjun voicing his concern. "arjuna listen to me, I'm here look, It's gonna be okay " Ashwathama said panicking.
Flashback .....
After Eklavya's departure arjun had grown distant from guru drona, Ashwathama had find arjun in the middle of the night gazing at the stars as silent tears had adorned his face. He did not comfort him, They were enemies, But retrieving back after witnessing Kauntey's grief was something Ashwathama'a heart did not permit. So he chose to sit beside him as they gazed the stars together. After that incident ashwathama had found kauntey there nearly every day, Not crying but gazing at the stars silently as if trying to find the part of himself he lost. Ashwathama Loved those moment of silence or perhaps understood it and that's how million of feelings were exchanged between them without a single word being uttered. One fine day, Arjun was off than usual he hasn't even spoken to his brothers Isolating himself after the lessons. As expected The son of Kripi found him at midnight near the lake, This time he did not look at the stars but he was facing ashwathama. "They killed him. Som" was what he uttered before breaking down into muffled sobs. Ashwathama had met the boy few times When he was told to accompany arjun to ask for alms. Arjun was brave, he never broke down infront of others but today he needed a break from being strong and Ashwathama understood that, so he talked, about anything and everything to distract him, they found they had many similarities the greatest one being there love for archery. And they talked for hours until arjun tears had dried. the conversation had not brought a smile, as to forget the grief was impossible but talking to ashwathama he had somewhat found strength. The boys had developed a bond that day which was a little less than friendship but much more than enemity.
End of flashback.....
Ashwathama was panicking at the state of arjun when karna kneeled down and hesitantly kept his hand on arjuna's back. Arjun flinched. Karna withdrew his hand. Maybe physical contact was not the best idea. "listen arjun, just breathe with me okay? Just in.. And out." Arjun followed "yeah good. Just like that. In.... And out" Karna kept instructing him till his breath was normal. He kept his hand on Arjuna's forehead and muttered mantra's Invoking blessings of Gd Dhanvantri letting energy flow from his hands. As he felt arjuna calm down he withdrew his hands. He looked back at Ashwathama who was giving him a confused look. Kara shrugged "My brother shon, He used to panick a lot in confined dark places, I always helped him calm down," Ashwathama shook his head "That's not the reason of my confusion, And I think you know that to". Karna just smiled, "I will tell you the answer, but not today"
