Chapter 4 | First date

Sophia and Charles kept texting each other this Friday before they would see each other again the day after. Sophia was excited to see Charles again and couldn't wait for their date.

The girls went exploring the town on their last full day since they had been laying by the beach yesterday. They did some shopping, had lunch and decided to head to the beach again after. This was one of the most relaxing holidays Sophia has had in years. Her ex boyfriend always wanted to do a lot on holiday. She did like doing a lot of stuff, but she also enjoyed laying by the beach and working on her tan.

That evening she decided to prepare for her date the next day. She washed her hair, shaved every centimetre of her body and made sure to put on lotion. She curled her hair already so it would be nice and natural for tomorrow.

She had a hard time falling asleep that night since she was feeling very nervous. She was laying next to Emily who noticed her friend moving around a lot. She knew Sophia wasn't really good at handling stressful situations. She turned around and wrapped her arms around Sophia. "It will all be okay, you two have been keeping contact the whole week. He clearly is interested in you and you like him as well. After 5 minutes your nerves will disappear, you know that." Emily tried to comfort Sophia.

Sophia knew her friend was right, but her body kept being in this stressful state. "You are right, it will all be okay." Sophia replied. "And if he ends up not being nice, we will just drive back home and you never have to see him again. That's the nice thing about summer love." Emily chuckled. Her friend was completely right. This was the opportunity for her to explore her single life after her relationship. What did she have to lose? The two talked for a bit longer which really helped Sophia's nerves. Slowly she drifted off to sleep.

The next morning the girls cleaned up the apartment. They did the dishes, brought out the trash and put all their suitcases in the car again. Sophia couldn't believe this past week went by so quickly. They were already on their way back. They would spend the night in Monaco and continue driving as far as they would get for their last stop and arrive back in the Netherlands on Monday.

Sophia sat in the back looking out of the window while her friends were screaming to the new Taylor Swift album. This car ride felt like it took days, in reality it only took 2 hours before they entered Monte Carlo again. They still managed to find a relatively cheap hotel since it was just before high season in the south of France. Sophia texted Charles she was in her hotel. Charles replied within a couple of minutes

Charles

Did you have a nice drive? At what time should I come pick you up?

Sophia

I am ready so you can come whenever you are ready

Charles

Okay, I will put on my shoes and come your way. I will be there in 20 minutes. What is the address?

Sophia sent him the address and the nerves started building up again. She shared her room with Emily again. Emily saw Sophia getting nervous again. She walked over to her and kneeled down in front of her as Sophia was sitting on the edge of the bed.

"Just take a couple of deep breaths, you know what we talked about last night. It will all be fine." Emily started talking calmly. "You look absolutely amazing! He will think you look amazing and if something goes wrong we are right here and we will help you escape". Sophia couldn't help but laugh. Emily was right and it helped calm the nerves. Before she knew it she felt her phone buzz. It was Charles. Her heart started beating in her throat. "He is here!" Sophia said. "You will be fine and if you need us just give us a call!". Sophia gave Emily a hug before she left the hotel room.
