The next few days were a blur.  I couldn't function properly, and Harry's absence bothered me greatly.  I barely ate, barely slept, couldn't go along doing my daily routine.  Just stared at my poster of Harry that I kept in my room.  I think what eventually got me out of the funk were the texts Harry sent.  One particular text made me happier:

I can feel your love even though we're a thousand miles apart. Can you feel mine? XO

As I expected, I was all over the Internet.  Several articles showed pictures of Harry and I, Veronica and Niall, and the kiss.  Thousands of tweets, posts, and comments were from negative fans.

"@harrystyles you're making a big mistake."

"Who the fuck is she?"

"I preferred Haylor over this!

"Those bitches can go die in a hole @niallhoran @harrystyles"

A lot of them hurt, but I remembered that if I were in the same position as them, I would feel the same way--the feeling of jealousy, rejection, anger.  Still, I steered away from reading all the nasty tweets, and I disabled my Twitter account.

Veronica and I had to be very careful whenever we went out in public.  We never went alone, usually together, always wearing sunglasses or a hat to shade our faces.  The photographers weren't able to get a clear shot of us, so our identities were preserved, but we didn't want to take the risk of being identified, or having angry Directioners reacting crazily.  To keep things even calmer, Veronica and I didn't discuss the time we spent with One Direction with any of our friends, and our families promised to keep it secret.

After four weeks of this, I somewhat got back into my normal summer groove of things.  I met up with Ronnie one sunshiny morning and we drove to Starbucks in the village of our town.  Once we ordered our beverages, we sat down at a table underneath an oak tree which shaded our faces.

"So," Veronica said between sips of her mocha, "has Harry been texting you lately?"

I blushed.  "Well, he tries to as much as he can, and it's really sweet that he still does, even though they're all touring.  What about you and Nialler?"

"Oh my god, the things he says are so hilarious! His texts make me laugh every time! They're all kind of like pick-me-ups, and---and they make me forget how much I miss him." Her cheery mood disappeared, and her face dropped. "But then when he has to go, I feel sad all over again."

I put my hand over hers.  "I know how you feel, Ronnie.  I miss Hazza so badly.  But don't worry, alright? Liam's birthday is coming up, and we're gonna see them again!  And let the fact that Niall likes you comfort you.  Millions of girls are dying to be in the position you're in."

She looked at me, a happier look in her brown eyes. "Thanks, Amber.  I'll keep that in mind."  We both stood up and started walking to her car.  "Hey, what day is it today?"

I checked my phone. "August 23rd," I responded. Whoa.  Liam's birthday was in six days.  "Veronica!  Liam's birthday is in six days! We're meeting up with them that soon!"

And we weren't the only ones who remembered.  When I reached home I got a call from Harry.  He was starting his break the next day.

"Could you and Veronica fly out to Orlando on Friday?" he asked. "I'll pay for the plane tickets."

"Aw, you're so sweet, Haz, but I can pay for it."

"But I want to." His voice pitched highter and sweeter. "Plleeaasee?"

I laughed at his cupcake-Harry impression. "Alright, alright! Thank you, Hazza.  You're so generous."

"I know," he teasingly chuckled.  "So we'll pick you up at the Miami International Airport in three days.  See you then?"

"See you then," I said with a smile.
