"You sure you're in the right place, ma'am?" The Uber driver asked you. "Yeah, im sure." You nodded, getting out the car and heading into the bar.

You went in and walked over to the counter, overhearing some men talking about the bartender."How'd she not see us, Man? Bitch must be blind." One of the men said talking to another. "Whoa, where do you think you're going, princess? The other man said as the woman was about walk away until you interrupted. "Excuse me? Mineral water, when you get the chance." You told her, her replying with "Sure thing doll." After she had left you started a conversation with the man who called her a bitch. "It's not that she didn't see you. It's that she didn't like what she saw" You said, winking at the other man near him, breaking out a fight, which you lost.

You held an ice pack to your face, sitting down in front of Carlos in the police station. "Are you serious?" You questioned Carlos, looking up at him with a hint of annoyance. "Austin's a small town, Y/n/n? If there was a fight involving you I'd be the first to know." Carlos replied to you. "Ugh" you said looking down. "Bummer about getting arrested. People might found out your real name, which marks the newest thing i've learned about you since i've last saw you." He continued. "Why are you processing me as a conflict of interest, Reyes." You said to him, getting more annoyed. "The good news, neither of your new friends want to talk about the little scuffle tonight, and since you blew a 0.0, we're not even giving you drunk and disorderly." He stated as he gave you a zip lock bag that held your belongings, ignoring your question from earlier. "You're free to go." He said. "And what's the bad news?" You questioned him before you left. "The bad news is that means you did this with a clear head." He replied.

You looked down, avoiding eye contact with Carlos. "I'm not trying to be your best friend or just your friend, if you don't want to, but you should talk to someone why you felt compelled to do something so suicidal." He said, looking at you straight in the eyes, which you nodded to, processing what your best friend had just told you. "You got a little crud there, by the way." He told, showing you on his own face where it was. You picked up a tissue in annoyance, and wiped the corner of your mouth. "Other side." Carlos corrected you. You looked at him annoyed and wiped the other side of your mouth. "Stop, just.. let me do it, Y/n/n." He insisted as he grabbed a tissue and came closer to you, wiping your mouth. "Thanks." You told Carlos.

There was a silence between you and him till you spoke up. "I'm sorry i went crazy on you last time we've seen each other." , "I'm a cop now, Y/n/n. Im used to crazy, you don't have to apologise for something from years ago ." He replied, reassuring you, and you carried on. "Look I just went through a really bad break up, like, nuclear bad, and then I relapsed." , "You mean with me? Is that why we haven't talked for ages because that doesn't even make sense for why we haven't spoken in years?" Carlos asked you. "No." You defended yourself, pausing your sentence, making Carlos look up at you. "I mean with substances, that's why I hadn't reached out earlier." You carried on, Carlos looked at you with a mix of emotions, guilt and sadness. "Right. Which explains your reaction to the champagne. I'm such an idiot. im sorr-" He apologised, you cut him off and said "No, it's fine, okay? I mean, ever since I've gotten here, it's just.. it's just grey, and I just feel lost and numb all the time. I guess I just wanted to feel something." You explained to Carlos before getting up with your belongings about to leave. "Judging by that lip, I'd say mission accomplished." He said, smirking. "You really busting me right now? After all that." I replied. "I suppose I am." He answered back, making you chuckle.
