"...Then, I found my mom's old stuff in the attic from when she was a student at KISS...! And Dae..."
A girl with auburn, medium length hair and blue nails rambled on to me, an ecstatic look on her face — I could practically see the sparkle that beamed in her eyes as she talked about her fantasies of going to KISS: Korean Independent school of Seoul.
"Kitty, are you sure you don't just wanna go to have get with Dae?" I ask the girl jokingly with a sly smirk plastered on my face, nudging her arm with my shoulder.
"Ugh, gross, Steph... but even if I was, we've been together for four years now." She replied to me with a laugh. "But, I don't wanna leave you..."
"Wait, what school are we taking about here? KIS or KISS?" I ask.
"There's two kisses...? I'm talking about KISS: Korean Independence School of Seoul, not the other one." she explains to me, causing me to let out a deep sigh of relief.
"Oh, I thought you were talking about Korean International School! My dad kind of applied for me to go to your KISS like a month ago but I said no straight away."
"He what?!" Kitty replied to me with a shout, almost choking on her saliva as her eyes went wide, a large smile forming on her face.
"Yeah... he said he hates the American schooling system and that I'll fail if I don't study in somewhere else." I say, doing a pretty accurate impression of him. "Plus, he wanted me to go stay with him in Seoul since he's always so busy with tight schedules. Barely has time for the family."
My Dad happened to be the founder of one of the largest K-pop companies in the world: DM music. He'd always be so busy with debuting and managing artists that he could never come visit my mom and I in Portland. I was missing him like crazy.
"Are you kidding me?! This is amazing!" She said, lost for words, as she pulled me into a long, tight embrace before looking at me and tucking my raven curls behind my ears, cupping my face in her hands. "I don't know how I would've been able to survive without you."
I smiled sincerely at her, placing my palms on the back of her hands.
"Neither do I... Have you asked your dad and Trina yet?" I asked Kitty.
"Yup! I made an awesome powerpoint for them and they loved it."
"Oh my god! I think I'm gonna call him and ask him to accept their offer. The whole reason I said no in the first place was because I didn't want to leave you..." I said as I stood up from the bed, taking out my phone from my pocket before seeing a text appear on my phone from 'My Love'.
My Love: 'Hey babe, I miss you, can't wait for our date on Friday!' I sigh as I read the text, a small frown falling upon my face.
'about that... I'm so, so sorry... I don't know if I'll be able to make it.'
My Love: 'What, why? Is something wrong?'
'No, nothing's wrong. I wish I could explain more, but I'm pretty sure I'm moving 🇰🇷'
My Love: '... is this a joke?'
'I'm sorry... something came up, and my dad said he wants me to study in Korea. I don't know when my flight's leaving, but I'm assuming it's soon.'
My Love: 'KOREA?! Let me see you before you leave.
I hesitated before replying.
'I'll text you the details. Meet me at the airport.'
My Love: 'I'll be there, and I love you❤️'
'Love you too, Kai.'

I felt guilty. Guilty about not telling the full truth to him, not that there was much to tell in the first place. Guilty about leaving so suddenly... Guilty about everything, to be honest. Kai was the sweetest boy I'd ever met, but my feelings for him were slowly beginning to dissipate...
"Steph, you okay?" I turned around to see a worried Kitty staring at me with her eyebrows raised, a slight frown on her lips.
"Yup! I'm okay... Almost forgot to call my dad!" I laughed nervously before dialling his number into my phone and letting it ring for a few seconds before a small static was heard on the other end.
"Hi Dad..."
