𝐒𝐌𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐀𝐒 𝐘𝐄𝐓 another customer left the small bakery, Y/n took a sip of her water bottle, glad the day was feeling a little better than yesterday. She heard the bell once more—only to see Remer rushing back into the place."Has Jenna come back?"
"No."
"Damn!"
Y/n chuckled a bit, "Want a water?"
"Yeah, sure." Tossing the bottle at Remer after reaching for it under the counter, Y/n noticed Coop and Squeak weren't back yet.
"Have you heard from Coop and Squeak?"
"No, but I think they're still at the vet." Y/n nodded in response to this, glancing up at the clock. It was nearly four thirty—and Y/n was honestly eager to go home and sleep.
"So, what's going on with you and Coop?" Remer asked Y/n as he stood by the counter, drinking his water with a smug look on his face.
"Nothing, why?" Y/n responded—a little anxious that at he'd caught onto the awkwardness which seemed to linger between the two—but neither understood why.
"Dude, you two were totally eye banging each other."
"We were not!"
"Yes, Y/n. You were."
"That's gross, man."
"Right. Whatever you say, but everyone in this bakery knows!" Remer shouted a bit too loud—which brought some customers to turn to him with a confused look.
"You're scaring away my customers," Y/n laughed a bit, "But I mean, things have been kind of awkward. I don't get why though."
"Did you get into an argument?"
"No. Everything was fine up until the game."
"Makes sense. A lot of shit went down, probably just you guys being a bit shaken up."
Y/n felt a bit eased by this—"Yeah, probably."
For some reason however, the topic of love didn't seem to cross her mind whilst trying to figure out what this awkwardness was. Or perhaps, she didn't want to accept that it could've been that.

"Y/n, dude! There was this chick when we went to the vet, she was totally hitting on me!" Squeak joked as he walked through the door of the bakery—completely unbothered by the customers."No, she wasn't!" Coop rolled his eyes, "She didn't even look your way once!"
"Yes, she did. When she came back with the paperwork for her dog, the pen was facing me." Squeak crossed his arm with a triumphant look, "She wants me, everyone."
"Sure, Squeak. She wants you so bad."
"Yes, she does. Right, Y/n?"
Y/n was writing down a few things onto her notepad—but still nodded nonetheless. Her friends outbursts were random, but kept her company.
The phone then began to ring—which brought
Y/n to walk over with a small smile. "Hello?" She answered."Hi! Uh, this is Y/n, correct?"
"Oh, yeah! Hey, Jenna."
Y/n could hear the loud footsteps approaching the counter—which were most obviously Remer's. "I was just hoping to order another dozen chocolate donuts. Do you happen to know when it'd be ready by?"
Y/n glanced around the bakery for a moment—"A good twenty minutes. Is that alright?"
"Yes, that's perfect." Jenna smiled over the phone—despite Y/n's inability to actually see it happen. "How much will it be?"
"It's on the house."
"Oh, no, I couldn't possibly accept that!"
"Jenna, you're honestly the only customer keeping me sane at the moment." Y/n chuckled, "Just don't worry about it."
"Thank you so much."
"Of course. It'll be ready in twenty,"
Once the two hung up—Y/n didn't even get to turn around when she felt Remer jump across the counter, and stood right beside her. "What did Jenna say?"
"She's coming in twenty, you better get ready,"
Y/n told him, seeing as his face lit up with such a joyed expression, she wondered if he could've actually been in love with Jenna."Fuck yeah!" He jumped, and threw a fist into the air. Hearing as Y/n's chuckles signified a somewhat sign of approval, Remer walked into the back, where Y/n had the extra changing room.
"Anyway, how you guys doing?" Squeak asked the remaining two—as he pulled out his small flip phone.
"Alright," Coop replied, "Tired."
"Yeah, me too." Y/n didn't look at the two as she spoke, rather, she distracted herself with writing some things down. It was confusing, but once more, she felt somewhat nervous.
It reminded her of how she felt whenever she was avoiding a punishment, the anxious, sinking feeling that would bubble up in her chest like lava. This was slightly different, however.
She wasn't avoiding a punishment from her parents for not washing the dishes, this was something that she was avoiding due to the feeling that she'd done something wrong.
Wait, done something wrong? No, it wasn't that either. She knew that feeling as well, avoiding someone because of the awkward tension you know is going to be there, and this wasn't it.
It wasn't awkward on Coop's part—it was Y/n.
Thankfully, without another chance to indulge in these exasperating thoughts, Remer waltzed out of the changing room. "Guys, guys, how do I look?"
"Homeless." Y/n answered without any form of hesitation.
"King George the Third?" Squeak replied, tilting his head with furrowed brows.
"Shut up Squeak, you don't even know who that is." Remer remarked, "And Y/n you're just as homeless!"
"Not that homeless..dude, where'd you get that thing from?"
"A thrift shop..."
"Remer that thing looks prehistoric!" Coop laughed, slapping a hand onto the counter.
Remer's outfit was indescribable—a yellow looking suit with what appeared to be a pair of slacks. His shoes were his regular black and white converse—but the entire thing looked as if he'd just walked out of the local circus.
"Whatever, whatever." He muttered, and began to adjust his hair with a "confident" look—and Y/n could only smile. However, there was an odd feeling in her system, a feeling which she couldn't explain.
It was upsetting to her, due to the fact that she worried over any little thing, and even the slightest thing could ruin her mood. It was annoying, for the most part. She'd grown especially annoyed to the event of evading Coop.
"You think me and Jenna can have some alone time in your changing room?" Remer then asked Y/n—a laugh threatening to spill from his lips as he attempted to remain serious.
"Absolutely the hell not!"
