8:30am,

Rui was at the UCLA practice facility when he starts to feel nauseous. "Rui are you alright?" D'Angelo Russell asks. "No I think I'm going to throw up," Rui runs to the Lakers Locker room bathroom stall and started gagging. He flushes the toilet, heads to the washroom to wash his hands with soap and gargles. "Geez Rui! What happened?" "I don't know what to say but the smell in the facility made me sick," Rui replied to Max Christie. He returns to the basketball court and continues practicing shots. Darvin Ham noticed that Rui was acting off. "Rui, you look odd. What's going on?" "Coach, it was just a stomach bug, I think I ate something bad," "Wow, when was the last time you had breakfast?" "This morning," He replied. "I had pancakes with strawberries and chocolate and then moments later, I started to feel nauseous,"

"Oh okay," He answered. "Why don't you go home and rest?" Rui leaves the practice facility as he drives home to the house close to Staples Center. Yuta was unaware that Rui came home early. "Rui, you're home early! What happened?" "I was at the practice and moments later, I started feeling nauseous," "Really?" Rui nodded at Yuta's question. "Apparently, I have been feeling dizzy since this morning and I don't know why," "Oh I see, and what are you feeling right now?" "I had sleepless nights, I would be vomiting in the middle of the night and man! It was a complete disaster. I tried eating ramen that mommy bought from the Japanese Grocery and it had a bitter taste in my mouth," Rui explains. "Plus, I don't want to tell my parents about it," "Oh okay, did you go to the store to buy a pregnancy test?" "No not yet," He said. "Okay, let's go to Walgreens and buy you a test,"

Next, they went to Walgreens to buy the pregnancy test as Rui sighs. Oh my goodness what if my parents find out about what was going on to me? He thought to himself. How will it affect my NBA career when it comes to me being the person that's feeling like crap? Will the NBA commissioner finds out about this? I don't know what I would do. Later on, they went to the Chinatown in Downtown LA as they used the restroom in the convenience store. Rui sits on the toilet urinating on the stick as he waits for the results to come. Few minutes later, he checks the test. Two lines: Positive.

Damn it! His breath whispered. What will my parents think? Yuta waited for him to come out of the restroom. "So what happened?" "Actually, I don't want to say this Yuta, but I'm pregnant," "Oh my, so it wasn't the food poisoning right?" "No Yuta it wasn't," Rui shook his head. "It wasn't a food poisoning," Yuta takes him to the clinic in West Hollywood to figure out what was wrong as Rui explains to the nurse that he ate something bad and he was at the basketball practice when he started feeling nauseous and he experienced dizziness and sleepless nights. She placed the gel on the machine and it turns out Rui is in his 6 weeks of pregnancy.

The next day,

Rui came to tell his parents about what happened and told them that he was pregnant. His father was very upset with him. "Rui! How could you do this?" Zakari yelled. "You're very young to be a mother! How could you balance between being an NBA player and taking care of the baby?" "Dad, I know what you're thinking but I don't know what to do. It was an accident dad! I'm sorry," He started sobbing. His mom came to him and comforts.

Rui Hachimura: Gomen'nasai, okāsan. Hontōdesu. Nani o sureba ī no ka wakarimasendeshita. (I'm sorry Mom. I really do. I didn't know what to do.)

Makiko: Rui-san, wakarimasu, wakarimasu. Daijōbu, daijōbu. Dōsureba ī no ka kangaete mimasu ne? Nakanaide. (I know Rui, I know. It's okay, it's okay. we'll figure out what to do ok? don't cry.)

Even his siblings were there to support him as well.
