Heartbreak

Like drugs, you got me addicted.
The sickenly sweet feel of your touch was my high,
And the day it was no more— when you departed,
I could only wish for nothing more than I die.

Like spirits; your love made me drunken.
You gave me excess and I reveled in the ecstasy of it.
But when I awoke from it all, I realized I was sunken—
In my head, a throbbing sensation, and on my bed, vomit.

Like an ocean, you were the semblance of clarity and peace,
A great sight to behold; majestic like a crown.
But in you held the strangest and filthiest of secrets—
So dangerous that as I ventured further, I was drowned.

I prefer it, but I'd rather stick to the original.
