The corridor seemed to go on for miles. Every step I took was more and more painful. Because Every step I took meant I was closer to Theo. Most people would be running at this point, ecstatic to see their friend, alive and well.
I guess I'm not like most people.
Trigg seems to notice that I'm slouching, and dragging my feet, to waste time.
"You're so strange, you know that right?" He says. His voice echoes in the long corridors and he slows to my pace as if to start a conversation.
"One minute you want to see him, the next you don't"
He seems to figure out that I'm not in the mood for talking and immediately speeds up.
Good.
"We're here" he says
"If you care, never sure with you" he gives me a side smirk as if he was trying to make a joke of the situation, then he moved on to the door.
That stupid door.
On the other side is my Theo. I'd rather be in the hands of his captors than have to open that door.
"You ready?" Asks Trigg. He seems concerned about the lack of my emotion.
"Yes." I whisper, just managing to speak without tears running down my bruised cheeks. No Laura. Not now. No tears equals no weakness. I can't cry in front of Theo or Trigg.
Without warning Trigg shoulder barges the door open. Now I wish I stayed behind. Or You know, tThe mutt ate me.
At the door, no doubt there's Theo, but not like I'd ever, ever want to see him. Slumped against the wall. Unconscious. But not just him.
3 armed guards.
With their fingers hovering over the trigger of their loaded guns.
