The spray of the humongous lake splatters Serra's face as she and Spartan stroll along the side of the lake. Her purple braid swings from side to side in the gentle breeze, and messes up Spartan's hair even further, though this is nearly impossible at its current state. Serra can't help but muster a chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Spartan queries. "There's nothing here to laugh at, really."
"That's debatable," Serra clears her throat to repress her laughter. "Out of curiosity, where are we headed? It's been over three hours since we departed from the barn."
"Well, naturally, we're headed to Ponitum, the port city, to see if no one has stolen my ship," Spartan responds. "I really hope they haven't."
"And so we're walking there?" Serra starts to become infuriated. "Surely you don't expect us to camp out during the night? Pontium is over a week's journey by foot away, and that's if we don't stop to sleep!"
"I figured you were less petty than that, if you don't mind me saying, miss," Spartan addresses Serra. "You have heard of temporal displacement magic, haven't you?"
Serra is infuriated. "You call me petty, then you expect me to attempt nearly impossible magics just so we don't have to spend the night outside? I can't believe you!" She pulls out her orb. "I'm no witch, but I'm fairly certain I can find a curse to lay upon your for your foul tongue."
Spartan laughs, which shocks Serra slightly. "You? Curse me? That's very funny, miss, considering I'm the one with the money, ship, directions, influence, and-"
"I can make up for all of those, thank you," Serra scowls at him. "Now, a curse of silence or a curse of disfigurement, which would suit you better?"
"Neither, thank you," Spartan gives Serra a curt nod. "Now I can go on to Pontium with or without you. I won't mind the six-day discrepancy."
"You... you..." Serra clutches her head and angrily stomps around. "You were SUPPOSED to HELP ME!" Serra yells, infuriated. "You were supposed to help me save this stupid world, and you just stand there and display the most rudeness a man has ever shown me! You send people to attack me, you turn me into a... a MONSTER, and you expect me to tolerate it all? By god!"
"If I may say something, miss, your tone is getting a bit loud, you might want to tone it down so the authorities don't hear us and arrest us," Spartan suggests innocently. "We wouldn't want you to be arrested for using dark magic, now would we?"
"I..." Serra's orb begins glowing a deep purple. "Don't..." Her eyes turn blood red, her claws and fangs returning. "Care!" A blast of purple energy sends Spartan flying upward. He spins upward and upward and upward. Suddenly, with a burst of lightning, he returns to the ground.
"Miss. I HIGHLY suggest that we hide. That commotion was far too loud," Spartan steps forward and rests his hand on Serra's shoulder.
Serra's eyes return to their normal jade hue. Her fangs retract slightly, and her claws do the same. "Alright... Confundemus nos cum arboribus!" With the incantation uttered, Spartan's eyes widen as tree bark begins covering his skin, surrounding him as a cocoon might, immobilizing him. He can see the same occurring to Serra, as the two of them have become, entirely, trees.
