「Chapter 2 - Promising Encounters」

"Don't worry, unless there's some new rule I don't know about we can go down there at any time, even at night to investigate!" You smile at Ryan as he stands back up with an excited glint in his eyes.

"That would be cool, " Wyatt adds as he shuts off his camera. Ryan nods, and you all make your way to the front desk to check-in.

A few people seem to watch you all with curious glances as you wander back over. You acknowledge you all do look like an interesting bunch of punks now in an old building like this. It's a bit on the fancier side too so you stand out like sore thumbs. 

"Hello, how can I help you, Hun?" The young receptionist woman gives a very wide smile and locks eyes with Wyatt. He walks forward a little and pulls out his phone. River, Ryan and you share glances a bit confused since you were all closer than him but don't think anything of it.

"Hello, just checking in, " Wyatt smiles and answers plainly.

"Name?" 

"They are under Ryan Rees and Y/f/n."

The lady types in the first name and then tilts her head when Wyatt says your name. You are thankful you don't have to talk to this woman and that your sister did talk to Wyatt a lot about this trip so there are not as many awkward moments.

"That your girlfriend or mother? I am sure a handsome man like you has gotta be taken, " She giggles and continues to input something on the computer for a moment, giving a more flirty smile to Wyatt. It pisses you off and seeing how suddenly uncomfortable Wyatt is you step forward beside him a little.

You aren't the only one who notices it, it seems. Ryan moves to the other side of him with a look you can't quite describe other than trouble. 

"Oh he's taken! Are you ready for our special night, big boy, " Ryan smiles extra flirtatiously and caresses Wyatt's cheek when he turns to him.

"I-I am, " Wyatt awkwardly laughs more so at the woman and glances down at you seemingly thankful you noticed too. 

"O-oh! Well if you're ever looking for a third party, " The woman laughs and winks before waving her hand, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" 

There is a very clear awkward tension that she does not care about as she grabs two key cards and hands them to Wyatt. When he hands one card to you and you take it from him you see the woman glare out of the corner of your eye. Ryan seems to see it too and gives her a big smile.

"We are good! Between all of us, we have too much to handle already!" Ryan nudges his brother who seems to understand something you and Wyatt don't as he nods back. A mischievous smile appears on Rivers' face as he walks behind you and Wyatt. Your heart races when River puts his arms over your and Wyatt's shoulders, pulling you both close to him. 

"Damn right!" River kisses Wyatt's head and then smiles at the woman, "Have a nice day, Ma'am!"

The woman seems incredibly shocked as you all walk away, but you try not to stare. Ryan pushes the trolley on his own for a moment while you create distance. Once you are a little ways away from the front desk Wyatt pulls away from River with a flabbergasted look on his face. You feel your face has heated up again.

"Dude, what the hell was that?" Wyatt glances back at the front desk and grabs the trolley to help push it. River takes his arm off your shoulder and helps push too. You are grateful you can breathe again and focus on the conversation.

"A-a woman wanting to join the ghosts of the Menger. If Addy hears about that she will be on the next flight, " You chuckle.

"Oh yeah."
