Sanemi's eyes fluttered open, his vision hazy and his body weak. He found himself lying in a clean, white hospital bed within the Beacon infirmary. As his senses gradually returned, he heard the soft sound of footsteps approaching.
Annie, the caring girl who had tended to his wounds since that fateful day, walked into the room with a tray of food in her hands. However, as her gaze met Sanemi's, the tray slipped from her grasp, clattering to the floor. Shock and relief mingled on her face as she rushed to his side.
"Sanemi! You're awake!" Annie's voice trembled with emotion as she knelt beside his bed, her hands reaching out to touch his face gently. "You had us all so worried. I'm so glad you're okay."
Sanemi's throat felt dry and raspy as he tried to speak. "Annie... What happened?"
Annie's eyes welled up with tears, but she managed a faint smile. "You've been unconscious for three long months. Your injuries were severe, but you pulled through. It's been a difficult journey, but you're finally awake."
Sanemi's heart raced with a mix of anticipation and anxiety. He yearned to know what had become of his comrades, especially Kaito and Team RWBY. With a weak yet determined voice, he asked, "Annie, please... Bring Kaito and the others here. I need to see them."
Annie nodded, her voice filled with reassurance. "Of course, Sanemi. I'll bring them right away."
With a sense of urgency, Annie hurried out of the room, leaving Sanemi alone with his thoughts. Emotions surged within him, a blend of relief, anxiety, and a lingering grief for those who had been lost in the battle. He gripped the edge of the bed, his fingers trembling with a mix of hope and fear.
Minutes later, the door swung open, and Annie returned, accompanied by Kaito and the members of Team RWBY. Sanemi's heart skipped a beat as his eyes locked with Kaito's, the familiar bond between them stronger than ever.
Kaito's voice cracked with emotion as he rushed to Sanemi's side, his eyes welling up with tears. "Sanemi! You're finally awake. We... we thought we had lost you."
Sanemi's voice choked with emotion as he reached out to clasp Kaito's hand. "Kaito... I thought I had lost you too. But here we are, standing together."
Sanemi's eyes swept over his comrades, taking in the visible reminders of their shared ordeal. He saw the bandage wrapped tightly around Kaito's stump where his hand once was, the empty socket where his eye used to be. Yang's missing arm replaced by a mechanical prosthetic, a constant reminder of their sacrifice. And the rotting decay that marred Weiss's once pristine features, a cruel reminder of the poison's lingering effects.
His gaze met each of their eyes, their strength and resilience shining through despite their physical scars. They had endured so much, fought with everything they had, and yet here they stood, survivors of a battle that had tested their limits.
Sanemi's voice trembled with a mixture of admiration and sorrow. "Look at what we've become. Each of us carrying the marks of that day, yet still standing here, together. We've paid a heavy price, but our resolve remains unbroken."
Kaito nodded, a solemn determination in his remaining eye. "We fought with all our might, never yielding to despair. Gyutaro may have taken much from us, but he couldn't break our spirit. We carry the memories of our fallen comrades, and it's our duty to honor them by continuing the fight."
Yang clenched her mechanical fist, her voice filled with a mixture of determination and grief. "We won't let their sacrifices be in vain. We'll keep pushing forward, no matter how hard it gets. We owe it to them."
Weiss's voice quivered as she touched the rotted side of her face, her expression a mix of sadness and determination. "This is a constant reminder of the cost of our battles. But we won't let it define us. We'll use our pain as fuel, to fight for a better future."
