Caitlyn woke up at 6 o'clock and first thing in the morning, she went to feed her cat, Nifty. After doing that she continued her routine, got dressed, ate breakfast and before leaving the house, she woke up her father. Everything went as usual, but it didn't feel that way. Something seemed different, and she couldn't tell what it was, maybe the weather had changed.

At school, however, everything felt familiar. It was all the same as always, boring, monotonous; dull. She always hated her classmates, for being so fake and shallow, they all faked their personalities. A bit hypocritical, she also faked her personality around others. The difference, she believed, was that she pretended to be another person because she couldn't show her true personality, fearing being judged, but her classmates acted as if they were different, because they had no real personality. Of course that wasn't true, but she had distanced herself so much from them that she didn't even see their humanity.

She ate her lunch while reflecting on her day, and thinking about what she would do when she got home. Life felt repetitive. That is, until the series of events that changed her life unfolded. A girl from another class, Alyssa, she thought that was her name, got mad and destroyed her phone, smashed it, then ran off to another table and started talking to another boy. Caitlyn at first thought that the boy had told her something rude over text, hence her reaction, but she later learned they didn't even know each other. Alyssa was just a nut-case.

The following days, Caitlyn came across Alyssa and the strange boy together. They seemed real close. One of the times she found them together, they were making out.Except they weren't. Alyssa was making out with the boy, but he wasn't, it didn't look like he even cared. He wasn't fazed. Caitlyn saw that the boy had a nasty burn scar on his left hand, which intrigued her. The situation left Caitlyn wondering what was actually going on. Why did Alyssa suddenly care about some random boy and why did this boy seem like he hated her. She decided to learn more. Investigate, was the word she used, but it was more like stalking. She first wanted to know more about the boy, because his name was still unknown to her. She eventually learned that his name was James. She followed him home, put recorders in his bedroom, and eventually figured out the reason he was so distant to Alyssa. Because he planned to kill her. His intentions were never to date her, but to get close and then murder her.

One day, when Caitlyn was watching James from outside his home, Alyssa showed up at his house, but she didn't take the route she usually took, which led to her seeing Caitlyn.

"What the fuck are you doing here? Are you spying on James? You fucking creep" She said, with a mix between surprise, anger and confusion.

"No." Caitlyn didn't know what to do, she was in front of James' house, with binoculars in her hands and a notebook next to her. It was obvious that she was spying on him. "I was birdwatching. I don't know who James is." Her lie was obvious, but she didn't expect Alyssa to notice.

"There's no way you're not lying, no one actually does that." Caitlyn was shocked. 'Why would she notice I'm lying because of that?'

"I do."

"No you don't, you're just saying that because you were stalking my boyfriend and you got caught!"

"I insist, I do not know your boyfriend."

"You definitely know him! You've got a notebook with information about him!" She picked it up. "Why the hell are you even doing this?" Caitlyn had no option but to tell the truth.

"Because James is weird. Did you know he killed a cat once? He dismembered it. He plans on doing the same to you, that's why he's your boyfriend."

" 'James is weird' ? You're the one stalking people! And I'm supposed to believe you? The creepy girl outside his fucking house?"

"Yes-"

"No. Shut up, go away and stop bothering us." Caitlyn got up and walked for a bit, with no intention of actually leaving.

Alyssa went into Jame's house. Then Caitlyn went to the house again, from the back, so she wouldn't be spotted again. She listened to the couple talk. Well, mostly she listened to Alyssa talk. It was always like that, Alyssa talked, James listened, usually replying with short phrases and words that made it seem as if he wasn't listening. Alyssa said she would be at James' house at 11 o'clock the following day, and shortly after, she left.

After a while, when Alyssa was gone, she knocked on the door. She expected James to open the door, but apparently she was too optimistic. His father opened the door instead.

"Hello, can I help you?"

"Hello, I'm a friend of James, could I talk to him?" She really hoped his dad believed James had other friends aside from Alyssa.

"Oh, sure! Come in, he's in his room." He greeted her warmly, and pointed to his room.

Caitlyn went inside, to James' room. She saw the door was closed and knocked.

"James? I'm Caitlyn. I need to tell you something." She was sweating, she knew they had never talked before, he probably didn't even know her name, so she could only hope for the best.

He opened the door, with a confused look on his face.

"Who are you?"

"Caitlyn, I just said."

"Ok. What do you want?"

"To talk to you. I know of your plan to kill Alyssa." The moment she said that, James shoved her inside his room and locked the door.

"How do you know? I haven't written anything down or told anybody."

"I heard you talking to yourself. I've been...stalking you. Because I thought you were weird."

"I am weird, but you're even weirder."

"I am? You're the one planning first degree murder!"

"I'm not the one stalking a killer! Why put yourself in danger like that?"

"Because you don't seem capable of actually doing it."

"I will. Tomorrow."

"Then I want to watch. I'll be here at half past 10. Don't disappoint."

"I won't."

"Ok."

"Ok."
