Finally, I arrived in the Glade. My breaths were heavy since I ran at full speed for hours, taking no breaks. I was a bit upset and overwhelmed by everything that happened, and I still had horrible-looking abrasions on my knees and lower arms. My leggings and sweater were ripped because of the slide and falls I made, sadly.
Chuck ran over to me. "Jane, what's u-." He trailed off and stared at me with wide eyes. "You look like klunk."
"I know," I replied, wiping some sweat off my forehead. "Is Alby around? Or Newt?"
"Yes, Newt was waiting for you. I'll go get him." Chuck decided, but then he frowned. "Are you sure you're okay, Janey? You're very pale."
"Yeah, just gotta.." I breathed. "Take some breaths." I lay down on the grass, which felt very refreshing to me. Cold, instead of my sweating and aching body.
Chuck bent down in front of me and if it was in a different situation I would've laughed at his worried face. "Stay awake!" He ordered.
I smiled poorly with all the energy I had left. "Don't worry, it's not like I'm gonna-." My eyes started to close at my tiredness.
"Hey! I said stay awake!" Chuck roughly pulled me up from the ground, which almost caused him to fall, but he succeeded. "Our destination is the Med Hut!"
"Mhm." I hummed, exhausted. Chuck was probably right, I felt sick, so being pale wasn't very surprising. It felt like I would vomit any minute, though I didn't understand. Wounds, a Griever, and an explosion were some things a spy would be able to take right? Why couldn't I?
It didn't help very much, but I still appreciated Chuck for helping me walk through the Glade by wrapping his small arm around me. My heartbeat was rapid and the world around me was dizzy, but I kept walking.
"Keep it up!" Chuck encouraged.
I guessed the fact that what happened was a consequence of me not doing any of the tasks, scared me. I nearly died! Who knew if they would ever do that to Minho in the maze? Even worse!
"Jane, I'm serious. Keep walking, because I don't feel like dragging your unconscious body in front of Newt who will yell at me for being irresponsible again!" Chuck dramatically said.
I chuckled through my heavy breaths and together, Chuck and I managed to get into the Med Hut.
Jeff immediately walked over to us. "You don't look so good."
"That's what I said."
"Thanks for the compliment, Jeff."
Chuck and I said at the same time. Jeff laughed a little and motioned at a bed. Only looking at it made me tired, so I let myself fall down on it right away, hoping to fall asleep soon.
"Hey! Don't do that," Jeff commanded. "First explain what happened, let me check you, and bandage everything up. You're bleeding on the sheets, so your condition is quite bad! Explain!"
"There was a-."
I got interrupted by someone slamming the door open, stomping in loudly. Newt. His expression was angry, eyebrows furrowed and jaw clenched, but once he saw me looking at him, he softened.
"They said they saw you walking with Chuck," Newt explained, as he sat down on a chair like he did it every day. "What happened?"
"She was about to explain that, until you rushed in here like a shuckin' elephant!" Jeff sighed.
Newt gave Jeff an offended glance, but didn't reply. "Go on explaining then." He turned to me.
I wiped some more sweat off my forehead, that was probably dawning my whole face. "There was a-."
