"243 points! Congratulations to Y/N, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023!"
As Y/N's brain was slowly realizing what Graham Norton had just said, everyone around her started screaming and hugging her. She then started to scream too as she had just conquered one of her biggest dreams.
However, this also meant that one of her new and best friends, Käärijä, came in second.
She knew how hard he had worked for this, and besides feeling proud of herself, she also fell sad for him and a bit disappointed for the juries.
Before the production teamcould lead her to the stage to accept the award and to do her speech, she left the hug she had been embraced by her friends and walked to Jere, who was sat down with his head in his hands while being comforted by his team.
"Jere-" He looked up at her, she approached him and gave him a hug while her hand rubbed his naked back . She could feel his few tears on her shoulder but right now she couldn't really care about that. Her job was to focus on him and then focus on her.
After a few minutes of the hug, one of the people of the production team tapped Y/N on the shoulder saying they really needed to go.
They slowly broke the hug, but before, when Jere's hands were still on Y/N's waist, she looked at him in the eyes, rubbed his cheek with her thumb and smiled.
"I'm still deeply proud of you"
"Go get your award" He said and put his hand on top of hers.
"Okay but meet me at my backroom after"
Jere just nodded and Y/N went to the stage.
During her speech, she remembered to mention how Käärijä's performance was important and how much that prize would always remember her of him. The cameramen made sure to capture Jere's reaction during her speech and he was just smilling while his eyes still dropped some tears, but you could tell that he was happy and proud of her.
Y/N left the stage after one last performance of her song and went straight to her backroom, remembering what she had told him.
And there he was, sat at her couch with smudged makeup from all the crying and sweating.
"Hey."
"Hi."
"You know that I consider you the winner, right?"
"I do, but you are the actual winner. I'm just the fictional one."
"I'm sorry. Everybody was rooting for you, I was rooting for you."
"Y/N, it's okay. I'm happy for where I got, happy that I met the friends that I have now, and very happy that I met you."
"Yeah I know, everyone loves to meet me." She said and then laughed so she could make him feel better. He responded with another laugh.
"I still have to process everything in the next few days."
"Jere, I genuinely feel bad that you didn't win. Everyone was screaming for you."
"I know but don't worry about that. You go party and I go cry in the bathroom" He stood up and she grabbed his arm.
"No, you're not. What about the 'it's crazy, it's party'? You're Käärijä, the crazy finn guy who sings ChaChaCha. You're not going to just seat in the toilet and cry. You're going to party with us." Jere looked at her and smiled a little.
"Come on, Bojan is waiting for us with some piña coladas." He chuckled while she started to push him outside the room to go meet Bojan at the bar.
They partied all night and, for some reason, Jere ended up in Y/N's bed, snuggling against her while she caressed his back, hoping that tomorrow he wouldn't feel any sadness for not winning what he wanted the most, but feeling happy that millions of people around the globe love him and so does a little girl that occasionally won Eurovision.
