I release a breath, "Hey Dad.""My sweet girl! where have you been? So busy you couldn't give your old man a call at least once?"
I awkwardly chuckle,"Yeah sorry. I'v just been so busy with work."
He sighs heartily,"Of course. How have they been treating you?"
I sign pinching the bridge of my nose. "Dad enough of the small talk. I need your help, and for that I need you to be honest."
The receiving end of the line goes quiet for a moment. I had begun wondering if he hung up until I hear a throat clear and his voice spoke up again.
"I suppose you know." He says, no longer emotion in his voice he just had.
"You thought you could keep this from me forever?" I ask shakily, clutching the phone in my hand.
He Hums, " you told you?" I grip the steering wheel, "That doesn't matter."
He chuckles bitterly, "Of course it matters. My only daughter just found out her daddy isn't who he really is. Someone must pay."
I release a breath coming to a stop at a red light, "You really have that little faith on me that I couldn't find out on my own?"
"Of course not. I think you're fully capable. Just not for this." He replies.
I roll my eyes putting my blinker on and turning left, I'm about to reply when he beat me to it. "Don't freak out honey, my men are going to follow you. Stop at the side of the road and get into the second car."
I freeze and look in my rear view mirror, "How the fuck did you get here so fast?"
He chuckles, "I have men everywhere sweet girl. You have a lot to learn."
I pull the phone away from my ear, looking at it then putting it back up against my ear, "Did you track me?"
"You really think I wouldn't track my daughter who just called me out of the blue after years of not speaking to me?"
I angrily sigh, glancing at the cars behind me, "I'm not coming to see you dad. I only want some help."
"I believe that won't be a choice sweet girl. I'm not letting you go so easily."
"Fuck" I mutter, hanging up the phone. Obviously calling my father was the wrong move.
"Fuck!" I slam my hand on the wheel glancing at the gaining cars behind me, picking up speed to get directly behind me.
I don't know what to do. For the first time in many years my mind is blank. Knowing my father his men are well trained for this. I'm not.
I jerk as the car behind me hits my bumper. A warning.
I swerve as another one comes up right beside the car.
I take a deep breath in, and out. "You can do this." I mutter to myself.
Right before I go to push my peddle at full speed, a boom and flash of orange glows behind me. I jump and turn my head around, to find the car that was behind me blown up.
emerging from the smoke and flames is a gray car.
The car itself doesn't worry me, it's the driver.
Rowan, pale but with an anger expression races towards the car beside me, it's then when that car's passenger starts opening fire not only on my car but Rowan's.
I duck as bullets fly into my car, the windows shattering, glass breaking on top of me, leaving little cuts in its wake.
A choked scream comes from my throat as my shoulder booms with a throb. I glance at it to find a newly wound gushing blood.
