Dexter and Castalia lived happy lives, waiting for the slightest chance to meet each other again. Sometimes it would be a week or it would be the very next day. All they knew is that they were falling in love with one another each and every time they met. But a problem arose… their parents.
Dexter was from a family who knew about this far away kingdom and believed it would come one day. So they had strong faith and roots in this. They were sending Dexter to the school for his whole life to learn and love the king who rules this magical land. For his whole life Dexter learned about this place this man. With his parents being so in love with the kingdom they wanted the best for him. So naturally they rejected anyone who wasn’t a part of the kingdom. Even when Kara was a girl in Dexter’s life, they rejected her because of her parents. Knowing this Dexter saw it was going to be difficult to get his parents to approve of her.
On the other hand Castalia grew up far away from that. Her parents weren’t together anymore. They separated when she was young. From an early age Castalia learned to fight and provide for her family, be the glue that holds them together. And she accomplished that. But little did she know that this King, this Lord was holding her together in ways she wouldn’t understand until she believed. On the day that she did realize this and believe the kingdom would come, everything became clear. One thing became clear too… it was that of Dexter’s parents. How would they or why would they ever approve of her if they didn’t even truly approve of Kara?
Dexter was worried about her parents and asked one day,
“What do your parents think of me?”
Castalia hugged him and said,
“They like you, like a lot!”
“Really!? I barely talk to them. I feel like I’m a stranger that just comes and takes you away for a time. Sorry…”
“No need to be sorry! They see all the things you do for me and also they also hear about your ‘amazingness’ from me too”
“You tell them!? Haha but still… I wanna get to know them more.”
“Maybe I should have said yes to my moms offer on a dinner with you”
“ooohh… that’s scary but I would have loved to! But nothing to formal yet.”
“What about your family!? what do they think about me?”
“Well I can tell you that my sisters love you! They know you’re a very sweet girl and beautiful one too!”
“merp”
“Don’t deny it! and my brother thinks we are ‘cute’ together. Same with all the other guy friends. Haha”
Dexter looked at Castalia, she was looking down. He noticed it was a worried or thinking face. So he hugged her even tighter and said,
“Hey… what’s the matter?”
Castalia took a deep breath, looked at Dexter, then at the ground, then at Dexter again… finally said,
“what about your parents?”
“My parents” Dexter paused to think… Castalia looked even more worried, “ My parents know I like you and they know your past… but they don’t really know you.”
“I’m kinda scared of them…”
“They aren’t that scary… usually… they just want the best for me so they are just judgmental. Why are you scared?
“Well they have a history with The Kingdom, while my family…. and I’m new! If they didn’t even approve fully of Kara, how can they approve me!?”
“I thought of that too… but I know they will love you! everyone who meets you loves you! once they get to know the awesome person you are then they will know you are perfect.”
She hugged him and pulled him up from the bench they were sitting on and started walking. Dexter caught up and held her hand as they walked. Then he said,
“Let’s make a goal. To get to know each other’s family because if we are gonna become a family then we gotta have a strong bond with each other’s family.”
She smiled and said,
“of course”
They pinky swore right there and then walked off. The road is gonna be hard, it is gonna have its curves, bumps and cracks. But if they kept their eyes on the prize; nothing could stop them.
