Dexter reached into his pocket and pulled out a letter. He placed it on her door then went back home. Castalia finally returned home to find the note, she opened it and it read,
“Dear Castalia
I would like to ask for your company on an evening walk two days from now. If you would care to join me then please send me a letter.
Love, Dexter”
Simple and to the point, but what Castalia didn’t know was he was planning on asking her out that evening. Finally he can call Castalia His! Finally after… Forever they can tell the world, YES. We are together!
Dexter gathered his friends for the big day. He called upon his brother Piers. The scholar Sans. The warrior, Jehan the great. Noble knight Guiscard and Chestibor an old friend. They all gathered in Dexters house and waited for everyone to show. Dexter stood up and said,
“Thank you for coming, you guys are my closest friends and always said you wanted to be part of this step in my life” then Guiscard said,
“About time! She’s been waiting forever!” Chestibor asked,
“how are you going to do it?” then Jehan interrupted,
“What are we supposed to do!?” finally Sans hushed them and said,
“Let the man talk.”
Dexter nodded his head to Sans as if to say thank you. Then he pulled out five gifts, wrapped in anything from cloth to chests. He laid them out in front of them and they started to comment on them, wondering what they were and how much gold did he use to get them all. Dexter came to sit down and said,
“Ok, this is my plan to ask Castalia out. First I need someone with a carriage. So that would either be Guiscard or Jehan. Once Castalia arrives here you will give her this letter also this gift and take her to West-Hill lake. Take her to the east side, and tie up the carriage there. When you arrive, someone will be waiting with THIS gift. Same thing you will give her the gift and this letter. The letter will lead her to where the goblins ride around in their boards. That’s where the next person will be waiting. He will have THIS gift and this letter. Hand it to her and that will lead to the court where the knights rumble. Someone will be waiting there with THIS gift and this letter. Same thing… it will lead to the hill my the young’ns play place. Someone will be there with THIS gift and this letter. She will read it and that will lead to me. I will be by the lake, on the road that extends into the lake. That’s where I’m going to pop the question.”
Everything was silent for a while… they were all thinking about how it was going to play out. Then Chestibor came out and said,
“Wow that is a lot of stuff…” Guiscard agreed and said,
“Now we are going to have to top this when we ask out our maidens.” Peirs asked,
“What do we do after we give it to her?” Dexter answered,
“You and either follow her around or you can walk to where I am.” Guiscard asked,
“What about the gifts? It will be hard for her once she gets all of it, to carry it all…” Dexter answered,
“If she wants to, she can hold it but if not then you can just bring it to where I am.”
Everyone laughed and started commenting on how much it all was, and how Dexter came up with this. They wondered what the gifts were too since it was all wrapped up. After all the jokes and laughs Dexter brought them back and asked,
“Ok who wants to wait for Castalia and take her over there?”
Jehan said he would and Dexter gave him the gift and letter. Then waiting there for them would be Chestibor. Waiting at the goblin holes would be Sans. Waiting at the Knights court will be Guiscard and waiting at the hill would be Piers. They all grabbed their gifts and headed to their carriage. And where off.
While at West-Hill they waited for it to be time for Castalia to come to Dexters house. Dexter gathered them a bit early so they can leave unseen by Castalia since he wanted to surprise her. While they waited, they talked about how it’s all going to go and if someone will fail. Dexter kept on assuring that nothing will go wrong. But in his mind he thought of the worst possibilities like a carriage robbery while they head over here or if the goblins acted up or if one of the letters was mistaken and she went to the wrong place. But worst of all he thought, what if she doesn’t say yes… what would he do.
Too late to worry now it was time. They all rushed to their places and Dexter walked to his spot by the lake. From there he would be able to see when she arrived but she wouldn’t notice because the letters would lead her around. Dexter kept going through the words he was going to say to her. what were the best words he can say, simple and short but means everything he wanted her to know before she answered. He paced around and waited for what seemed like forever.
Finally he saw Jehans carriage roll in. Castalia got out and Chestibor greeted them, then they walked out of sight. Dexter got more nervous and tried calming down. He again paced back and forth. Jehan came by and Dexter said,
“How did it go?” Jehan gave him a thumbs up and said,
“Good, she is with Chestibor now.”
Dexter smiled and Jehan went over to a small hut by the lake to wait. Sans and Guiscard came next. They brought the gift and headed over to where Jehan was waiting. Dexters heart was racing. He almost couldn’t think, he almost forgot the words he was going to say when she arrived. Finally on the hill he saw Castalia, Pier and Chestibor walked towards them. Chestibor and Pier went with the other guys and Castalia walked toward Dexter.
She walked to the edge of the lake then ran to where Dexter was standing. She Gave him a big hug as she fought back the tears of surprise he gave him. Dexter just held her as she talked about walking around waiting for you and the awkward tension between her and Jehan on the way here. Dexter laughed with her then said,
“there is one more gift…” Castalia looked at him in the eyes and Dexter looked at her right back.
“I’ve already asked for your parents approval and they said yes. But now I’m asking you.” Dexter reached into his pocket, bent down on one knee and asked,
“Castalia, would you be my girlfriend?”
She was covering her mouth and fighting the tears once again. She looked at Dexter and said yes. Imminently Dexter gave her a big hug! They seemed to be hugging forever. So long that the guys even went under a tree to sit and wait for them. Castalia gathered herself then said,
“Wait if I said no?” they both giggled and Dexter said,
“Then I would go cry in the corner for a week or so.” They both laughed, “but I hoped you wouldn’t.” Dexter put the ring on Castalia. She said,
“It’s beautiful… you are my boyfriend… You Are My Boyfriend!.... YOU ARE MY BOYFRIEND! I can finally call you my boyfriend!” dexter yelled,
“Castalia is my girlfriend!”
Love that endures and waits is a love that will last forever. Forever and Always Together! Dexter and Castalia embark on this life long journey through the world, it is full of danger, threats and evil but together they can do anything.
