KALOPSIA - JAMES POTTER

Chapter 4

Amara walked into Potions with a clenched jaw and and narrowed eyes. She saw everyone standing at the back of the classroom and joined the girls.

"Holy shit!" Dorcas gasped, seeing the scar on her face.

"What happened?" Lily asked, concern written all over her face.

"Mulciber and Avery." she huffed, leaning against the wall and closing her eyes.

"You look good, Reid." Marlene grinned, a lollipop in her mouth.

"Sure, Marls."

"She's right. It makes you look badass." Mary nodded, nudging her.

Amara's angry resolve faded quickly as she sent her friends a small smile.

"You should see the other guy." she joked, laughing quietly with them.

Right then, Mulciber and Avery entered the lesson, walking past Amara with glares and standing next to the Slytherins.

"Nice nose, Avery." Sirius called out.

"It looks a little crooked, though. Makes you look uglier than you did yesterday." Peter snickered.

Both Remus and James simply glared at the Slytherins whilst Amara turned to the girls to explain that Sirius and James took her to the Hospital Wing.

Amara saw two more people walking past her and moved out of the way slightly to let them pass, only to realise it was Evan Rosier and Regulus Black.

She raised her eyebrows, but said nothing. Moving a year up in certain subjects wasn't unusual, so she turned to Slughorn as he entered the room.

He started to talk about inter-house unity and Amara groaned, closing her eyes. If he sat her with either Avery or Mulciber, she would run straight out of the room.

He started calling partners out and Amara drowned them out until she heard her own name.

"Reid and Black."

Amara let out a relieved sigh, walking towards Sirius with a small grin on her face.

"No. Not that Black, Miss Reid. Regulus Black." Slughorn corrected.

Amara simply shrugged, sitting down behind where Mary was already seated with a pretty Ravenclaw.

She turned to look at Regulus as he sat down, noticing his perfect posture and neutral expression.

"Hi." she mumbled, pulling out her books. "How are you?"

She had talked to Regulus a few times as she had nursed him back to health after he was hit with a bludger pretty bad in his Third Year.

"I'm fine." he said quietly. "You?"

"Been better."

They stayed quiet after that, listening to Slughorn list off the rest of the partners. Her eyes widened as she realised Sirius had been placed with Avery, but her jaw dropped when she heard that Remus was placed with Mulciber.

Seeing the two Gryffindors smirk at each other made her feel more at ease. Of course they were already scheming on pranks. Slughorn practically handed them an opportunity to do it.

Lily was placed with Snape but refused, glaring at the boy who just looked at her with indecipherable eyes.

Knowing Lily wouldn't refuse if it wasn't necessary, he decided to let her partner with a Hufflepuff girl whilst Marlene partnered with Snape.

Amara knew the poor boy would probably be reduced to tears by the end of the lesson. She let out a snort as she saw an evil smirk cross Marlene's face as she sat down directly behind her and Regulus.
