It's been three days since I've last hung out with Chris and Kristy. It has been hard trying to distance myself from them. But the distance is much need for my wounded ego. Of course I am over exaggerating, but as my friends would say, I am on my "man-period".
It has been apparent that I have been distancing myself because Chris and Kristy keep on texting me for the past 3 days nonstop. I can tell that they are worried since we always see each other 24/7, but they should know that I need my space. Of course I told them this, but they are worried that I am going through some depression period.
Don't you just love your nagging friends. But I will give them a week (hopefully sooner) until I hang out with them again. And unfortunately, since we have some of the same classes, I could not completely avoid them. Kristy went out of her way to stop by my house just yesterday. Thankfully I was away at the club and my mother informed her that I was in the public library -because that was my excuse to get out of the house from doing chores that night.
But the two are sure determined. I mean for a couple that finally have some alone time from their "third-wheeling" friend, I would think they would be just a little bit more happier. They haven't even been on a date since I've last seen them. They're plotting to intervene in my solo time, because according to them I am way too antisocial to be happy. Geez, can't a were have some me time?
But to avoid all of that, I decide to to go and devise a plan to get them off of my back. It is time for a little bit acting.
I walk into my drama class five minutes early to talk to Mr. Frazier, our one and only director of the school play.
"Hey, Mr. Frazier. Can we do the question game today?" I ask with a sly smile.
"Hmm, the ice breaker challenge was going to be compliment the partner but I suppose we can switch it instead," he nods with a shrug and then turned to the board to switch the lesson plan on the blackboard.
"Thanks," I reply and then took my seat at the edge of the classroom towards the right.
My classmates came trickling in. Texan sits next to me. Thank goodness I would not have to sit next to the couple. Texan is actually quite attractive. A werewolf mix between Native American and Egyptian. I believe he has the longest hair -in terms of guys- that I've seen in person. Hair reaching to his mid back. His skin have a nice golden brown that looked and felt silky smooth. We brush shoulders today, I think we're getting pretty far in this relationship.
Ha, just kidding. Chris is all for me. Thinking of Chris and he shall appear. He walks in along with Kristy. Chris frowns at the spot Texan took. But then searches for another seat. Before he makes a decision. Kristy is already making her way towards Texan and I.
"Hey Texan, can my boyfriend sit here?" Kristy asks Texan with a pointed look.
Ah you just gotta love her take charge attitude and bluntness. But at the same time, could she please refrain from using that term to describe Chris, or at least around me. Jerk.
"Um, Kristy, he can sit next to me, but I really like this seat. The location is great," Texan replies back.
"Yes I know that, which is why we need that spot. Our friend here won't speak to us except in class. You don't want me to be upset that I cannot talk to my best friend now do you?" Kristy questions.
"Hey, Kristy. Chris can have my spot," I stand and get up but not before Chris grabs my arm.
"Hey man, look we need to talk," he says looking me into my eyes.
"Ah the drama begins," Mr. Frazier clasps his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Chris, Max. Center stage now."
We just stand there looking at each other, waiting for the other to make a move first.
"I said now people, we don't have all day."
I look away first and gently shake myself from Chris's grip then head onstage. Chris follows my lead.
"We will open up class with the question game. First, Max and Chris. Second, Kristy and Texan, Third..." I drown him out thinking of a plan of action to use the question game to my advantage.
"Begin."
"Are you mad at me?" Chris starts.
"Should I be mad at you?" I raise an eyebrow in response.
"Then what is the matter?"
"Did you know, some people like to have "me" time?""How long are you going to be on your man-period?"
"Don't you want to spend time with your girlfriend alone?"
"Is my relationship affecting our friendship?"
"Do you love Kristy?"
"Are you in love with Kristy?" he quirks an eyebrow in surprise.
I groan. Oh the power of secrets and misunderstandings.
"Is she more important to you than me?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest.
"Are you sure you want to discuss our inner insecurities and issues in front of the whole class?" Chris
"Are we going to keep it PG 13?"
"Should we take this out-?"
"And scene. Your 35 seconds are up. Take your places in the back. Texan and Kristy get yourselves up here?" Mr. Frazier says snapping his fingers.
"Side. We have some talking to do. You better pick a time and place before I force-," Chris states as we walk to our seat.
"After school. We'll have our talk then. Until that time, I want you and Kristy to stay clear from me as possible." I interrupt stating my terms.
Chris nods his head then sits down away from me. Now all I need to do is think of what exactly I am going to tell him for my behavior and gather all of my questions like why in the world are the two so bent on me spending time with them 24/7. They are a couple for goodness sakes. Shouldn't they want some alone time?
