As soon as I heard Klaus speaking with someone else, I immediately rose from my bed to light the candle beside me. The voice was new, unfamiliar. I could hear the footsteps as the two of them made their way to the front door. I didn't quite listen to their conversation as I was too distracted, trying to determine why Niklaus would bring this stranger to our home.
The door shut behind the two of them as Klaus announced his arrival throughout the home. "Elijah," he said loudly from the stairs at the bottom floor, "I believe I have someone here you would like to meet." I swung my bedroom door open, revealing Rebekah standing right on the other side.
"Elijah," she whispered in the dark hallway, "who's the man that Klaus has with him?" I shook my head gently, walking past her. "I don't know," I said, standing at the top of the stairs. I stare down at Klaus, holding the candle next to my face to see if I can see the mystery man that stands beside him.
His face is shadowed and unclear. I slowly walked down the stairs, holding the candle close to me every second. Eventually I had reached the bottom of the stairs, the man's face only a foot or so away from my own. He was young, and strong. He had grown from being completely unfamiliar to somewhat familiar.
I felt as if I had seen him before, even if only briefly. My mind traced back to the people that I had killed in my past. Surely, this man could be a family member of one of my victims. I'd had many family members show up to my door before to seek revenge on me. Obviously, they never won and ended up a victim just as their loved one had years before.
"I'm sorry," I smiled at the man, "do I know you?" He stared straight at me, his eyes narrowing with my question. Niklaus stood beside him, smiling devilishly the entire time. As if he knew a secret that I didn't. For those few seconds, he did know a secret that I didn't. Of course that secret wasn't hidden for too long.
"My name is Aaron Le Moyne," he whispered in the dark as he extended his hand, "and I believe that you know my sister, Abigail." At the sound of her name, I grew anxious. I stared back at the man, not saying a single word. Abigail had never told me that she had a brother.
"Well," I whispered to the man as I took his hand in mine, "it's nice to meet you then Aaron." The two of us shook hands as he continued to stare intently at me. Niklaus raised an eyebrow as he watched the both of us. "Wait a minute," Niklaus laughed as he shook his finger towards Aaron, "you're a Le Moyne?" Niklaus's question quickly made me aware of the name as I had overlooked it when Aaron introduced himself.
The Le Moyne family was the First Family of New Orleans. In fact, the Father of New Orleans was Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne himself. However, it had been 12 years since his death. While he left in 1743 for Paris, he still held close ties to the city of New Orleans. Still, his family was very much a powerful presence throughout the city.
"I am," Aaron nodded as he turned towards Niklaus. I watched as the eyes of Niklaus instantly lit up. Knowing a Le Moyne meant knowing power. Of course, to Niklaus, knowing and having power was everything. Niklaus circled around Aaron, as if preparing to propose some kind of deal.
"Well Aaron Le Moyne," Niklaus stated simply as he extended his own hand, "Klaus Mikaelson." Aaron looked at me, as if to get my approval. I nodded once, to ensure him that he could trust Klaus. Although I knew that he couldn't. Niklaus would use Aaron and his power as fast as he could drain the blood from his body.
