The old Victorian sat on the corner of the silent street. The black shutters framing the beautiful windows that were hidden behind drapes. An orange sunset loomed overhead in New Orleans as I walked around the corner of the home, my eyes fixated on the center window on the second floor. That was Abigail's room.

I had watched her many nights before as she sat in front of her vanity, combing her long blonde hair. As soon as she had turned to undress in front of a mirror, I always turned my head away from the window to grant her with her much deserved privacy. It was never my intention to steal away a piece of her purity. I wanted to get to know her desperately, but not in that way.

She would spend most of her time reading books from scholars and travelers. She would also write in her journal, about what, I'm not too sure. While I was nearly certain that she wrote about walking the streets of Paris as she studied many French scholars and travelers that were notorious for their French voyages.

Many times I would want to approach her door and explain to her that I could take her to Paris. I had been there time and time before and knew the city inside and out. I wanted to tell her that I could show her the entire world, anything that she wanted to see at all. I could sweep her away and make all of her deepest desires come true.

However, I knew that it would never be that easy. With Niklaus and Rebekah by my side, I would never get to experience something as my own. Every experience that I ever had was always experienced by them as well. Yet, if there had been something I had experienced myself, or an experience that I yearned to have of my own, Niklaus would guarantee that would never come true.

He made sure that he would always be jealous of the other people in the lives of Rebekah and I. Our "always and forever" had become a quite literal term. We would always and forever be together, but what wasn't made clear in our family contract was that nobody else would be granted the same term. While family would remain constant, romance would not.

On another summer evening I watched Abigail again in her room. She wore a pearly white nightgown as a bow hung high in her hair. Her hazel eyes glanced over many pages of another book as she flipped the thick pages between her manicured fingers. She would lick her lips in concentration and would eventually sigh in boredom as she arose from her bed.

I sat across the street behind a willow tree, my dark suit blending in with the coming night sky. I kept my lips close together as I watched her intently and feverishly. Again a feeling of desire would arise deep within me as I watched her move around her room. I wanted her to be mine. I wanted her in my arms and her lips upon mine. I wanted every little piece of her and wanted her to have all of me in return.

A group of small children distracted me from Abigail as their boisterous laughs filled the street. One small child accidentally released a ball from their grip as the small red ball rolled to the front of my shoes. Slowly, I bent down and retrieved the ball. I looked over to the group of children that stared at the mysterious man that had just retrieved their ball.

I smiled politely at them and without words, I rolled the ball back to the small child that had lost it. The young girl smiled at me before picking up the ball and running off with the rest of the group again. When I returned my gaze to Abigail's room, the drapes had covered the window and her presence had fallen. I sighed silently as I hung my head and began to walk in the direction that the group of children had escaped in.

However, a familiar voice fell behind me. "Elijah Mikaelson..." the voice muttered behind me. Immediately I stopped in my tracks and spun on my heel. An excitement grew in the same depth of my soul as the desire had been placed only minutes before. Her blonde hair was slicked back behind her ears as her hazel eyes smiled back at me.
