When Bruce left to get changed, Jason headed back up into the manor an straight to his room. He flopped onto his bed, with a sigh and dug out his phone finger hovering over the call icon under Roy Harpers name, he shook his head opening the messages instead he typed and deleted a few times trying to figure out what to say. With a grown he threw his phone onto the end of his bed running his hand through his hair as he thought. The man that Batman had described sounded so familiar but like normal his memories from before his sanity after coming back where jumbled. He closed his eyes trying to get a clear picture of his memory but all he got was flashes, images of being backed into a corner, a man with a manic grin next to him taking down one person of another as they fought there way out. He remembers shaking the mans hand and an echo of a laugh and then nothing. Jason lifted his left hand above his face looking at it as he turned it over.
Nothing.
He sighed again placing one hand behind his head and let the other fall back to his side. He turned on to his hide his mind spinning but soon darkness overtook dragging him under. He dream or memory was smudged like a thick fog covered it. He saw a dark shadow standing before a large man on his knees, slumped over a gun pointed at the man head and then a large bang.
Jason woke up sweat drenched and shaking. His mind grasped for the fading images but just like sleep they slipped away just out of reach. He sighed glancing over at his nightstand first at the old photo of him, Tim, his grinning older brother and Bruce abut he quickly adverted his gaze and looked at the clocks big red numbers "11.45" he sighed falling back onto the bed. He lay there for a moment before slipping out of bed and into his ensuite bathroom and into the bathroom.
By the time he made it downstairs almost an hour later and found his family at the table, Alfred setting plates in front of them. He slipped into the empty chair next to Tim and began to eat after thanking the old butler.
Jason glanced at his father contemplating if he should say anything but ultimately deciding not, nothing he could tell his father would be of any help at least not until he could get a clear picture in his head. "What's the plan today?" he asked instead "I need to go check on the YJ. For you three it's a day off do what you please" he answered before eating again. Jason hated mealtime the most, it reminded him of a time long ago, of a boy with a shit eating grin, stupid made-up words and happy. Mealtimes now were cold. He always thought the feeling of emptiness was because he came back from the dead. It was only after he came back to the Bats that he realised the missing piece would always be missing. It was a piece that they where all missing. When he came back and realised what had happened to his brother, the one that had truly kept them together. He had felt immense guilt coming back with so much anger aimed at his brother only to find out the truth. The only one that didn't feel it was Damian and Jason often jealous of that.
He sighed shaking his head "In that case I'm going to do my homework, What about you timbo?" Tim looked at him with glassy eyes from lack of sleep "Bed" he answered simply letting his head fall against the table. Jason hidden his smile by taking a bite of food.
When he finished, he ran back up the stairs pulling out his laptop and accessed the files from his resurrection hoping to find something but came up blank. The files only contained the little Jason could recall and anything batman could dig up from his time as Red Hood before his redemption. He slammed it shut just holding back his need to lob it across the room. He knew he should talk to Roy, who had known him a little bit back then to see If he had said anything or asked any questions regarding the man in black, but he didn't know how to, it seemed wrong private. Like a secret.
Jason slipped back off the bed and pulled his shoes on, he stuffed his phone, wallet, keys and cigarettes into his pockets before going down to his car. He got in and raced down the driveway and into the city. He parked down one of the back alleys and climbed up the side of a building he raced across the roof tops till he made it to one of the old, abandoned factories of down by the docks. He sat on the roof for a while smoking. Thinking about everything, he knew he shouldn't fixate, that it probably wouldn't hep anyone, but he couldn't help it, there was just something and he knew it was important if he could just remember.
It could fix everything.
Jason closed his eyes for a while lay back, he didn't know how long he lay there but by the time he opened them again he was no closer to the answer, but he felt calmer, his mind clearer. He stood up making sure he had everything before turning around only to pause mouth falling open on the door behind him was a small drawing of a robin with a message "Hello Little Red" he pulled the piece of paper off the door looking at it. He looked around before heading back to the manor. When he got their he went straight down to the cave where he found Bruce sat at the computer "B" he said placing the paper down next to his hand.
Bruce picked it up "Where did you get this?" Jason explained that he had gone to clear his head after a 'nightmare' "and It was just there, I didn't hear anyone, see anything It just appeared like magic" Jason said throwing his hands up "I wasn't that out of it I would of heard if anyone approached except maybe you, or the brats". Bruce nodded "Don't worry" he said "this person is something else, powerful. I didn't even hear him disappear. It is not your fault that you didn't either, but we need to be careful. No more leaving the manor alone until he is caught".
Jason ground his teeth but reluctantly agreed.
