ZARA
A few days passed since her spar with Cadmus and Zurden. Armos continued with his odd behavior, but the rest of the brotherhood had grown accustomed to it.
Zara on the other hand had grown increasingly moody. She could feel the shift drawing ever closer. Her bones ached and wailed, begging for their reprieve, but she would not give it.
The brotherhood had found a large river early that morning, and decided to camp for an extra day, even if it put them behind schedule.
It was a peaceful spot, smelled of fresh water and clean air. Birds in the trees sang their final song before they departed south for the winter. The creek burbled and crested as it flowed west, headed for the sea channel.
She stretched out on the shore, soaking in the heat of the sun. It gave her aching body a welcome reprieve. Kevdron had laid down beside her, and they simply basked in each others presence. She doubted he ever just sat and embraced nature, judging by how excited he was to try it.
She may have even fallen asleep at some point, but who could tell for sure. All she knew was that she felt energized and rested by the time the sun reached the middle of the sky. Eventually she was jostled from her relaxing by the sound of whooping and hollering.
She sat up, blinking slowly. Zurden stood at the edge of the river, shirt off, tanned skin glistening in the sun. She could only wonder how he wasn't cold.
The rest of the males were laughing and cackling as they tore off their coats and shirts. She couldn't help but blush a little.
"Sarros!" he yelled, "we're going swimming, care to join?"
"No, thank you," she said.
"You're missing out," he smirked, before striping down to his small clothes. She immediately slammed her eyes shut before he could undress further. By the time she finally opened her eyes he had already dove into the water and was thankfully covered.
The other brothers followed suit, and she couldn't help but lay back down, so she wouldn't catch an unwanted glance. Sephira sat beside her, and Zara rose to meet her. Sephira smiled and leaned closer.
"Attractive, aren't they?" she whispered in Zara's ear, just quiet enough so Kev wouldn't hear. A sharp growl was her only reply. "What? Looking isn't bad. Why would the gods craft them to be so beautiful if no one is supposed to see them? It's not like they're shy, anyways."
"I am!" Zara hissed, "I'm not equipped to deal with half naked males."
"Not equipped?" Sephira snuck a quick glance down at Zara, landing on her bound breasts before meeting her eyes, a stupid grin on her face.
Zara snarled at her, covering her chest. "Don't even joke! You know what I mean!"
Sephira chuckled, staring at the six males who were currently rough housing. Tackling one another, back and forth in a big game. Splashing and roaring and laughing like children.
It was nice, watching them to have a day to relax and have fun, especially after all the stress they'd been through recently. They needed a reprieve, and so did she.
Her throat dried as Zurden quickly rose from the river's surface. It was like time itself slowed. Water rippled and streamed off him, shining and enhancing his every movement. Every flex and bend of a muscle. His hair stuck to his face, and when paired with that menacingly handsome smile, she was rendered a blubbering mess.
"Sarros?"
She was thoroughly entranced, unable to look away. He flipped his hair back in a majestic movement. His hands slicked it even further back, drawing attention to the solid lines of his excellently sculpted jaw. He looked like a prince from a fairytale.
