Calida stared at the screen of her laptop. She knew they needed to leave the safe house if she wanted them to find her. Here, nobody would be able to trace them. It had been two days already, and it was beginning to bother Izar since they had been locked in throughout. It wasn't like Calida was any fun to be around. She wanted to keep the safehouse a secret, but she also wanted them to find her.

"What are you doing?" Izar slurred as she placed her hand on a surprised Calida.

"Are you okay?" Calida asked her, turning to stare at her.

"There was this drink... Don't know what it was, though. But... Do you know you're so pretty? Or handsome? Really sexy too...every time I see you..."

Calida didn't let her finish before covering Izar's mouth with her palm. Izar stuck her tongue out and flicked it at her palm.

"Ew. That's really gross. Why would you do that?" She asked, disgusted.

Calida got up and wiped her palm on her shirt. Izar wrapped her arms around her stiff bodyguard, placing her head on Calida's chest. Calida swallowed hard as her heart hammered faster in her chest. She felt warm, and she wasn't sure why.

"So nice..." Izar murmured quietly. "You feel so good. Can I stay here? Like this?"

Calida was quiet. She didn't have an answer to that question. A lot was going on, and all Izar wanted to do was hug her. She tried to pry her off, but Izar's grip was firm. She could smell the alcohol on her. How much did she drink? Calida asked herself.

"Alright, let's get you to bed or something," Calida said.

"Nuh-uh. You'll leave me again," Izar mumbled.

"I promise I won't leave you again. Let's get to bed. You want to cuddle, right? We'll do just that." She said grumpily.

Izar grinned before letting go of Calida. She let Calida lead her to the bedroom she picked the day they both came to the safe house. There was nothing she could do about this situation. She was stuck with it. Izar couldn't take two steps without almost kissing the floor. Calida begrudgingly picked her up, lifting her bridal style.

Izar's heart wouldn't stop beating so fast. She was almost afraid that Calida could hear her, but she was drunk, and none of that mattered. She stared at Calida as the woman carried her to her room. She placed her head on Calida's shoulders, sighing softly.

Did Calida feel what she felt? This growing attraction between them. It was as if she was pulled to Calida. Her life had been more dramatic and chaotic since she saw the stunning woman in her father's penthouse.

Calida placed her gently on the bed, thinking she was already asleep. She pulled the covers over her and attempted to leave. Izar caught her hand.

"Are you going? You promised!" She said in a high-pitched voice.

"I've got work to do! I have to go," Calida insisted.

"No! You work for me, so I order you to stay and lie in bed with me. Pretty please?"

Izar sounded so adorable, and Calida couldn't lie about the fact that she was slowly thawing her icy heart. Izar was complex, but it would be impossible not to like her. Calida mumbled something incoherent about rich, demanding brats before getting on the bed. Izar pulled back the covers for her, waiting patiently for Calida to get closer. When her bodyguard wouldn't come any closer, Izar closed the gap between them.

She sucked in a deep breath. She stared at Calida's hazel eyes, deep and beautiful. Izar swallowed loud enough for Calida to hear. Her mouth watered, and she tried her best not to squirm under the gaze of Calida's eyes.

Calida held her breath, one she didn't know she was holding in the first place. Their eyes were locked, and Calida knew if she got any closer, she would do something she would come to regret later. She wasn't about to do anything stupid.

Izar was the one to break their gaze. She lowered her head, lying on Calida's shoulder instead. She relaxed, easing into the other woman's body. Calida swallowed hard. She felt Izar place a hand on her side and mentally cursed herself for wearing a light shirt. She could feel the warmth from Izar's palm. She was losing her mind.

"We really shouldn't be doing this," Calida said.

"Nuh-uh. We shouldn't, but we are. We've cuddled before. It's not so big of a deal," Izar replied.

For Calida, it was. Never mix business with pleasure, and Izar was business.

"What if your father saw us like this? I'd be fired and jobless in a second." Calida groaned.

"Are you kidding? My dad picked you out of a ton of bodyguards, believe me. He probably chose you out of a profound list of A-grade bodyguards, those big and buff guys that are scary," Izar said. "So, I think he likes you enough."

Calida sighed. As much as Izar was drunk and usually stupid, she was right. She closed her eyes, hoping she'd sleep. She hadn't had a peaceful sleep in days. She had kept one eye open, just in case.

Now that she thought of it, she shouldn't have left a trail. She had hoped Joachim's boss or the people he worked for would come looking, but they were yet to. They had to be up to something. She was sure of it. It was time to contact Luke and Lucas.

"What are you busy thinking about?" Izar asked.

"You sound sleepy," Calida said, staring at the white-painted ceiling. "So, sleep."

"Do you have to be so hard?" Izar asked.

"On myself or you?" Her bodyguard asked.

"On the both of us. All I want is to be your friend, to get to know you. But you're making that hard," Izar said dejectedly, bringing her hand to Calida's chin.

She sat up to look at her. But Calida didn't look back at her.

"You didn't want to be my friend months ago. Hell, you didn't even like the idea of having a bodyguard. I don't know what changed now, but I'm not allowed to keep friends, Izar. I'm not allowed to live the fairytale life. My heart is made of ice. It cracks and shatters, but it never melts," Calida said.

She sat up immediately and got out of bed. As she walked away, Izar watched her without saying a word. For how long would Calida remain stoic? She couldn't tell, and she didn't understand why she was so bothered by this woman.

Izar laid back in bed. Most of the alcohol she had earlier had left her body. Now, her heart was beating too fast in her chest, and she knew why. Calida was the reason for it.

The woman wasn't wrong. She didn't like her from the start. She hated that her father had gotten a bodyguard without informing her. But the moment she had seen the nearly six feet tall woman, her body had reacted differently. Izar took in a deep breath. If this had been a man, she wouldn't have felt this way about him.

Calida pulled her wild locks into a massive ponytail. She should have locked the hair when she had the chance, which would have given the one she was after more reason to despise her. Every time she caught herself going soft, the screams she heard that night reminded her of what she wanted, what she needed to do.

She made a smoothie for herself and chugged it down in the kitchen. She made another one because the sound of the blender made it feel like she was channeling all the rage she felt into it. Calida drank the second smoothie before stopping.

She did the dishes and was grateful for the alone time she enjoyed. She couldn't get weak, not now. She couldn't afford to make the same mistake she made with Gina. That had nearly gotten them killed.

Calida made dinner for the both of them. It would be impossible to avoid the spoilt brat she shared the safe house with. But she would try as much as she could. She would have to, for both their safety.

Calida sighed. Izar was going to be a handful now.
