Chapter 2:
Keaton threw me a surprise party! I didn't know how to react to it. "Did you do this?" I asked with a big smile on my face.
"Yes." He said.
I ran to him and threw my arms around his neck. His hugs are the best. He wraps his arms around your waist and he squeezes you really tight.
All of my friends were here, girls and guys. There was a table near the back that was piled with gifts for me.
I figured I should walk around and say hi to everyone so that's what I starting doing. Everyone by this time was all in little groups of about five each chatting away. I first went to where my best friends Lexi, Elizabeth, Rachel, and Andra were talking. I said hi and thanks for coming and all that junk. They all wished me a happy birthday.
I went to another group of a bunch of guys that weren't really my friends but Keaton's friends. I haven't seen Keaton in awhile actually. Whatever..he's around here somewhere.
"Hey guys! How is everybody?" I said with a big grin.
"We're fine, thanks. Happy birthday dude!!" Matt said, and he was the only one that said anything to me.
"That's good! Hey, I have to go say hey to some other people too, so I'll catch ya later." I walked away, and none of them said anything.
Just as I was about to approach another group of some girls, someone grabbed my arm from behind me. I swung around, and it was Matt.
"Hey uhh..I think there's something
you should see Erica."
I felt this weird feeling in my stomach that it was going to make my night turn upside down.
And I was right.
He pointed to a corner behind a bunch of girls. The girls were all staring at something in the corner, but I couldn't really see what it was. I moved a little bit closer and I saw some brown hair. It was Keaton. And Jackie. Kissing. He knows how much I don't like her. How could he do this to me?
I could feel my eyes start to sting with tears, but I fought them back. I was going to stay strong. They stopped kissing, and Keaton saw me just starring at him, and that's when I lost it.
I ran out the door, through the restaurant, and out into the freezing cold weather in just a sweatshirt. Everything was a blur, I could barely see where I was going. I was bawling. I felt betrayed. I didn't know where to go, I was by myself in the snow. Well except for those guys smoking by their car.
I was just standing in the middle of the parking lot like an idiot. I heard footsteps behind me. I turn around, and there was Keaton. Did he think I wanted to talk to him?
"Erica..what you saw..it wasn't like that." He said softly.
"Oh yeah? What was it then?" I said with a really sassy tone in my voice.
"Jackie kissed me. Erica, I love you, and I wouldn't do anything to hurt you." He was still calmly. "She trapped me up against the wall, I couldn't move. I didn't invite her here, she was just..there."
Tears were running down my face, and I knew I couldn't go back in there.
"Why did you even go over there?" I asked.
"I just wanted to say hi.." He looked worried.
"Good excuse." I said as calmly as I could. I ran. Ran as fast as I could. All the way home. I stormed in my back door, not even bothering to take my jacket or shoes off. I went upstairs, put on pajamas, and instantly fell asleep.
