After a breif explanation from Max and a quick shortened explanation from me, I gave my number to Chloe and Max and took Chloe's number. They decided to head to their homes in order to rethink what happened today. They took Chloe's truck and headed back, while I decided to walk my way to the Blackwell.
I dial Mom's number and wait for her to pick up.
Me: "'Ello! How's your day going?"
Mom: "I would say the vacation feels refreshing so far."
Me: "Ah, glad to hear that. So, you wanted to talk to me about something?"
Mom: "Yeah, I wanted to ask you to help Joyce: since I left for vacation she told me that in the morning the load is too much for her, so I thought, since you are the one to send me for vacation, you could..."
Me: "Sure. No problem." - I say, not thinking much.
Mom: "*Ahh*! Thank you, (N/n)! So, how's your day?"
Me: "An OK day. Nothing major happened."
Mom: "And what was that ''urgent business'' you had to attend to?"
Me: "Nothing serious. Just was trying to catch someone trying to lie to me."
Mom: "Still not trusting those around you..."
Me: "In my age it's understandable: most kids want to brag, get the attention and just be praised and will do many things to get it. Lying is the most common one."
Mom: "So, what about a vacation for both of us when I come back? I heard about this town called ''Haven Springs''. It's small town with beautiful mountains, you'll love it!"
Me: "Maybe, but let's wait for me to graduate first..."
Mom: "*chuckle*And you are calling me a hard worker. Some would never believe we are not bound by blood."
Me: "Family is a choice of heart, not blood."
Mom: "And I'm happy with mine! Love you, (N/n), goodnight!"
Me: "G'night! Love ya!" - I say, pressing the red button.
I've put the phone in my pocket and saw that I'm halfway to the dorms. Now that I think about it, mom's house is closer to the diner than the dorms. I won't have to take the bus in the morning. I guess it's decided, then. Gonna spend the night in the house.
I turn around and change my route to reach the house. In few minutes I reach it and go in, using the key in one of the pots outside. I breath in the air, enjoying the smell of clean house instead of the dorms, filled with sweat and questionable music. Nice change of pace.
I make my way inside, throwing everything I don't neeed until morning on the sofa. I make my way to the fridge, the heilroom of any house. I open it and stare inside for a moment, thinking about what I can have as a goodnight meal, or snack if I feel like it.
I see some vegetables, sauces, but nothing else. Makes sense, since me and mom didn't plan to have anyone staying here in the following week or two. I guess I'll have to do with some vegetables. I'd be upset if I didn't know how to cook. Feeling lazy, so stir-fry should do it.
I start to heat the pan up, getting ready for the proccess. I start feeling bored and tap my foot. When the pan reaches the needed temperature, I throw oil, waiting for it to heat up as well, some vegetables and spices. I start to stir the vegetables, taking in the scent, trying not to overdo it. I then add the remaining vegetables on the pan, continuing to stir. The mass on the pan doesn't look appetising, but I know for sure it's tasty.
