The following morning at Brianna's luxurious home, the family gathered around the table for their posh breakfast. Her mother, Joelle, sipped delicately on her tea, raising her pinky and holding onto the small plate with grace. Her father, Emilio, had the most expensive cigar brand between his lips, puffing away with a sense of satisfaction.
As they sat around the table, Joelle couldn't resist asking her daughter about the party she had thrown the previous night. "Brianna, sweetheart, how was the party last night?" she inquired, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Brianna, who was sipping on her morning protein shake, smiled in response. "It was amazing, Mum. I want to thank you both for letting me throw the party," she said, her voice filled with gratitude.
Emilio, a not-so-skinny man with a distinguished mustache, looked at his daughter with pride. "You and Freddie are a great couple," he commented, his gaze shifting down to the newspapers resting on the table. "He's a very good guy, from a good family," he added, his tone reflecting his approval of Brianna's choice of partner.
As they chatted over breakfast, the family enjoyed their lavish surroundings, basking in their wealth and the opulence of their lifestyle.
Suddenly, one of the maids employed by the family urgently rushed downstairs. This particular maid was responsible for cleaning Joelle's jewelry, and she hurriedly made her way towards the family who were engaged in an intimate conversation. Upon reaching them, she interrupted their discussion, prompting Emilio to quickly turn around and address her.
With an irritable tone, he expressed his hope that her interruption was justified. Before she could even finish her sentence, the maid apologized and revealed that the necklace and earrings belonging to Emilio's beloved mother were missing.
The man who was sipping coffee almost choked on it as he turned around to look at the maid. The entire room was filled with a sense of shock and disbelief at this revelation.
Initially, Emilio reacted with skepticism and disbelief, assuming that the maid was making a bad joke. He exclaimed, "What are you saying? It's not the time to joke, Nova. Get back to work!" However, the maid was quick to assure him that she would never make such a serious accusation in jest.
She reiterated that the jewelry had indeed vanished, and that it was highly likely that someone had stolen it. The gravity of the situation began to sink in and the family members exchanged worried glances. Unanswered questions swirled around the room as everyone tried to understand how such a thing could have happened and who could have committed such a crime.
Noelle fixed her daughter, Brianna, with an icy glare and spoke in a voice laced with anger. "Did you take my belongings again? Where did you put them? Do you have any idea how valuable those items are?"
Brianna sat there, her mind racing as she tried to figure out what to say. She had her suspicions about Aurora, who had been in her parents' room earlier, but she had promised Freddie that she wouldn't say anything. "I didn't take them, mother," Brianna finally managed to say. "I swear it."
Her father, however, was quick to jump to conclusions. He was convinced that one of the staff members was the culprit and vowed to make sure they never worked again. "I knew it," he exclaimed. "It must have been one of the staff! I'll make sure their names are plastered on the front page of every newspaper in the city. They'll be forced to leave in shame."
Brianna felt a deep sense of remorse. She wasn't used to lying to her parents, and the guilt was eating away at her. She wasn't sure if Aurora was the real responsible , but she couldn't reveal what she knew without betraying her promise to Freddie. As she left the room, she felt a wave of anxiety wash over her, prompting her to rush to her bedroom and dial Freddie's number.
