It was as if he tossed all that darkness away when he got a call from his daughter, Mi-rae.
“Yo my little girl!” He screamed in happiness.
“Ah c'mon Dad. Don't call me that. I'm going to turn 24 next month.”
“Ah c'mon there lil' one. You're forever my little one.”
“Okay fine. Now would you listen to me? It's time! We're going to be late. We gotta go visit Uncle Seong-In.”
“Ah yeah yeah, I do know that. I'm on my way home.” He spoke indolently.
“Sure.”
With that Mi-rae hung up and Chang-han went back to his past self. He looked at Nathan and he picked up what his master wanted him to do. “I'll look after here.”
He bowed to him as Chang-han picked his phone and went out of his cabin. He got out a pack of chewing gum as he freshened his mouth with it. Obviously, didn't want his daughter to know that he smoked a while ago.
Mi-rae was in her room choosing an outfit to wear. Obviously she was excited to meet her cousins. And since they were meant to go there before the Jeons come, she was hurrying up.
“I'm actually confused about these both.”
She talked to herself as she checked herself in the mirror, hanging two dresses on her chest and trying to find the perfect one for the evening.
It was a difficult choice between a blue flare dress and a white gown that reached till her ankle. After comparing for the 25th time, she finally selected the white one.
She did her hair with her hairbrush and let it loose on her back. She applied some chapstick on her lips as she was done. She never needed cosmetics to start with. Keeping herself presentable without any cosmetics was her only advice to anyone who asked her. She giggled to herself as she checked herself out in the mirror. She went out of her room, making her way towards her brother's room.
“Joon.” She called out for Namjoon. Namjoon who was fixing the sleeves of his purple tuck-in shirt, looked back at her. “Oh, Rae.” He smiled at her. “Brother, I can't wait to see them both. I'm actually excited.” Mi-rae giggled softly and Namjoon smiled and caressed her hair. “I know, I know.” He too laughed and continued spraying his cologne.
“C'mon! Let's go!” She tried dragging him towards the door when Seol-ha barged in. Mi-rae froze as she hid behind Namjoon. She took a peek at Seol-ha. Seol-ha was burning in fury. But she kept a smile on her face. “Oh dear! What are my two children doing?” She asked in a sweet yet disturbing voice. “Nothing, mom. She just came here to call me out.” Namjoon replied.
“Oh sweetheart, she's right. We're getting late! We're supposed to be there before the Jeons arrive. Don't we?” Seol-ha screeched out. Namjoon nodded. Mi-rae gave her a little smile as Seol-ha caressed her cheek. “Go downstairs, dear. I'll get him.” Seol-ha spoke. Mi-rae nodded and did what she said. She went downstairs and waited there.
As soon as Mi-rae left the room, Seol-ha looked at Namjoon as she smiled widely and hugged him. “Ah my boy, I'm so excited! Let's go! And yeah, don't stay with her so much, she's a bad influence.” Seol-ha suddenly changed her tone as she talked. Namjoon sighed as he slightly pushed her away from her. “C'mon mom. Please, stop calling her that. And what is wrong with me staying with her? I just don't understand. Why didn't you accept her as your daughter yet? It's been over 15 years already. Why such hatred towards the girl who didn't do anything to you?” Namjoon spoke. Seol-ha was quiet as she didn't have any answer.
