FLOWER PRESS.Lady Marigold Wentworth spent her childhood with her nose in books. She read every piece of literature she could grasp between her fingers and when she had devoured each novel from cover to cover, she read them again and again and again and again until each letter, phrase and poem were engraved into her memory. But there were only so many hardbacks in the Wentworth Library that Marigold could read before she fell victim to boredom and there was a world, a vibrant one, full of life and excitement that Marigold wished to explore.
It took years of convincing but when Lady Marigold turned twenty four, her mother allowed her to travel Europe as long as she was accompanied by her older brother, August, who's adventures, unknown to Catherine and Phillip Wentworth, were far more eccentric than his parents could ever imagine.
From city to city, August introduced Marigold to everything she had missed out on and over the year they spent away from home, travelling through the continent, Marigold wrote about the animals and the tiny creatures she stumbled upon with hope to one day publish something of her own. However, that dream was quickly squashed when Marigold returned home to find that her parents had engaged her to Leopold Harvey, her father's friend since childhood and a man over double her age with very simple and tedious plans for his and Marigold's future
And with August's rather brilliant plan to prolong the engagement for as long as possible to save his sister from the golden cage that called her name, their parents allowed Lady Marigold to set sail to America with her brother and soon to be husband. But, when a small beast snatched her silver necklace and led Marigold on a wild goose chase through the city, Marigold realised there was a greater world she was yet to explore.
