I hurtle through time and space, expecting to reappear in the desert. But when I feel myself land, I'm somewhere very different.
Wait-- I'm in my bedroom? And it's daytime?
I glance all around me, and I notice that a few things have changed.
"Nefari? How... did you get in here? Where have you been?!"
My eyes widen in shock. "Princess Nefertari! Um... Why are you in my room?" I asked to her.
"I'm afraid this is no longer your room. It is mine now." Princess Nefertari said to me.
I was stunned from what she said. "Yours?! But... you share a room with the prince." I said to her in disbelief.
Nefertari gives a humorless laugh. "Not any more."
I screw my face up in confusion. "I'm missing something here. Nefertari, what's going on?" I asked to her.
Nefertari approaches me and looks deep into my eyes.
"When you left him out in that desert that night, everything changed."
Oh no!
"How long ago was that? When did I leave?" I asked to Nefertari.
"It was two months ago." Nefertari said as her answer.
Two months! The stone brought me back to the wrong time!
"Prince Userma was devastated by you leaving him stranded. And a woman came to his aid. A woman that has somehow twisted his mind." Nefertari said to me.
I crumpled my brows in curiosity. "A woman? Wait... What is the woman's name?" I asked.
"Her name is Velis of Hittite." Nefertari said as my eyes widen in shock.
No! Not Velis! I can't believe she got to him!
"When you say she twisted his mind, what do you mean?" I asked to Nefertari.
"Well, he returned to the palace that night filled with rage a bout you deserting him. And Velis kept whispering things in his ear. I knew there was something off about her, but I couldn't quite place it."
Nefertari looks away, and I can see the pain in her expression.
"Before I knew it, Prince Userma banished me to your old bedroom and said he wanted to divorce me." Nefertari added.
"He what?!" I said in shock.
"Yes, and now he's due to get married to Velis instead." Nefertari said in a sad tone.
"Wait-- hold on a sec! Prince Userma wants to marry Velis?!" I said in disbelief.
It's just like Professor Roberts described!
"We can't let that happen." I said to Nefertari.
"He's made his decision, Nefari. I don't like this Velis at all, but it seems nothing can sway the prince's mind." Nefertari said to me.
"No, Nefertari, you don't understand-- she's dangerous! She tried to kill him with a snake before, and she'll do it again! Her father wants to invade Egypt, and he's using his daughter as an assassin!" I said to Nefertari.
Nefertari's brows crumpled in anger. "Those are very serious accusations, Nefari. As much as I don't like this Velis, you cannot go accusing her of such treason."
"I'm telling the truth! I know it for certain!" I said to her.
Nefertari turns away from me, not wanting to believe it.
