It's been one and half a months since we visited Jide's parents and filed a lawsuit against them.

The case is happening in a few days. I'm currently staying with my parents to avoid seeing Jide at school.

I have been feeling nauseous for the past few weeks. I'm going to the hospital with my mum to do a check-up.

"Are you ready baby girl?" Mom asked.

I nodded and hopped in the car after she opened the car. I turned on the radio to make the car more lively.

Soon enough we were at the hospital. We walked toward the nurses and told them I was there for a check-up.

They led us into the waiting area and asked us to wait for our turn.

My leg bounced nervously as we waited for our turn to arrive.

"Are you alright Baby?"

"I'm Fine Mom."

"Do you want me to come in with you during the check-up?"

"There's no need. I just want to leave here as soon as possible."

"Miss Smith?" A Nurse called out.

"Yes, Ma'am."

"The doctor is now ready for you."

I stood up and walked towards her while she led me to the doctor.

We went to the doctor's office and met the doctor. He looked like he was in his late 60s with his Eyeglasses and bald head.

Dr. Toye has been our family doctor even before I was born. I'm glad he is the one on duty today

"How are you doing?" He asked me.

"I'm not okay that's why I came for a check-up."

"What is wrong with you then?"

"For the past few weeks, I have been feeling nauseous and vomiting."

"I'm sorry to ask but when did you have your last Menstrual period."

"What does my menstrual period have to do with the symptoms I listed out?"

"Just trust me- You know what let's do a urine test to check."

He gave me a cup to go and pee in the toilet. I went in there thinking about how my menstruation is related to this.

I gave him the cup when I came back from the toilet. "How long am I going to have to wait for the result? I asked.

"Hopefully not too long. Just wait in the waiting room. The nurse will call you when the results are ready."

"Alright Thank you, Sir."

I left the doctor's office hoping we could leave here soon. I don't like being in here.

The last time I was here was because of Jide. And that still scares the crap out of me. I shook my head to clear those bad memories from my head.

"What the doctors say Busola?"Mom asked

"It was just a stomach bug. He prescribed some drugs for me. We can get it at the pharmacy section" I lied.

She nodded and we went towards the pharmacy section of the hospital.

Mom went to receive some important calls while I bought drugs for my "stomach bug".

We left the hospital for our house with me thinking about my pregnancy and the Court case that's happening in a few days.

A FEW DAYS LATER.

Authors' POV (the Convo will be in dialogue form)

The courtroom is packed with spectators, lawyers, and the honorable JUDGE presiding over the case.

Mrs Smith, a determined and focused woman, stands up to address the court.

Mrs Smith:
"Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, today we bring before you a case of great significance.

We seek justice for a victim of a heinous crime, a crime that has caused unimaginable pain and suffering.

We are here to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, Mr Jide Johnson, committed the act of rape against the victim, Miss Busola Smith."

The defendant, Jide Johnson, sits at the defense table with his defense attorney, Mr. Roberts, a seasoned lawyer known for his thorough defense strategies.

Mrs Smith (CONT'D):
"Ladies and gentlemen, this case is complex, as it involves not only the criminal act of rape but also a psychological condition experienced by the defendant.

Jide Johnson suffers from dissociative identity disorder, also known as multiple personality disorder."

The jury leans forward, intrigued by this revelation.

Mrs Smith (CONT'D):

"The defense may argue that one of Jide Johnson's alternate personalities developed feelings of love and affection towards the victim.

However, it is crucial to remember that it was not this personality but Jide Johnson himself who violated Miss Busola Smith's autonomy and committed the crime of rape.

The defense attorney, Mr Roberts, stands up to counter Mrs Smith's argument.

MR. ROBERTS:

"Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client, Jide Johnson, is indeed diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder.

While it is a challenging condition, it has resulted in multiple personalities that exhibit distinct thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Mr Roberts pauses, gathering his thoughts.

MR. ROBERTS (CONT'D):

One of Jide's alternate personalities, whom we'll refer to as "JJ," genuinely believes he is in love with Miss Busola Smith.

The relationship between JJ and Busola is complex. It is not a traditional case of non-consensual intercourse.

It is a tragic manifestation of the disorder's effects on John's psyche.

The courtroom falls into silence, absorbing the gravity of the situation.

MR. ROBERTS (CONT'D):

Our defense will show that the act committed by Jide Johnson, as horrific as it was, was not driven by his primary personality or by his conscious self.

Instead, it was the result of a dissociative episode, wherein JJ, in his delusionary state, believed he was acting out of love.

Mrs. Smith rises to challenge the defense's claim.

Mrs Smith:

Ladies and gentlemen, while we acknowledge the existence of dissociative identity disorder,

we cannot overlook the fact that Jide Johnson is responsible for his actions, regardless of which personality was present at the time of the crime.

The victim, Busola Smith, did not consent to any form of a sexual encounter with Jide or his alternate personalities.

The trial proceeds, with witnesses and evidence being presented to support both sides of the argument. Throughout the proceedings, the court grapples with the complexities of dissociative identity disorder and its impact on the case.

The jury members listen attentively, torn between understanding the defendant's psychological condition and ensuring justice for the victim.

The court was about to deliver its verdict when all of a sudden Busola faints there by causing chaos in the court.

Busola was rushed to the hospital where she was attended to immediately
