I could see, as my dad ran with my younger sister, and put her into a safe place. Then I felt a sharp pain through my hand. As I laid on the ground fighting as much as I could, and knife was driven through the middle of my hand top hold me down. I screamed out in pain, then kicked as hard as I could sending Quaritch flying. I yank the knife out of my hand. Grab it and toss it across the ship then I draw my own. Before I could make another move, I felt my scalp being pulled up my hair on fire being held by my braid then put into a chokehold, felt like I couldn't breathe. Then I felt the cold metal barrel of a gun. Just then spider came from behind a metal piece and held his hands out "no don't! Don't hurt her!" Spider yelled with tons of fear in his voice. " Spider!"
Mom came behind with her knife drawn. Then faster than I could blink my eyes she held her knife to spiders throat. "Release or I cut." Her voice was scary and cold "what do you think I care about some kid? He's not mine we're not even the same species" all I could see was fear in spiders eyes. Mom looks like she was full of rage "a son. For son." my eyes widen. All I could feel is fear it scared me, knowing that a friend that I had betrayed me, but still felt compassion for him. Mom dragged her knife across spiders chest blood started to drip down "I cut." Quaritchs eyes widened. Mom screamed and raise her knife. "NO!" I felt the tension on my hair be released as I drop to the floor. I quickly got up and ran over to mom once I was safe she flung spider to the side. "Mom..." I felt her hand on my back. I felt safe. Kiri tuk dad me and mom we're all safe started back up towards the water. "Spider get them out of here!" Dad said in a serious tone. "I owe you a death" mom hissed momma was holding onto tuk tightly. She looked scared she'd never seen this side of mom before. Neither had I but I knew it was necessary. Tuk begged and begged for mom to come with us instead of staying to fight the bad guy. I took mom's other hand and started backing up "mom please, let's go please." I placed my hand on my knife, ready to draw in case anything happened. "You're not leaving are you Jake knowing I'm still out there, knowing I'm never going to stop. i'm coming for you and when I do, I'll kill your whole family" "DAD NO" I yelled I knew exactly what he was about to do "then let's get it done." Dad lunged and the two started to fight.

Then behind us, fire irrupted . "Go... Go! Go back to the ship, go, go, go!" Yelled with all my might we all swim back as fast as we could. Water was getting sucked into the lower part of the ship and tuk had trouble following. I turned to help Mom pull tuk but she slips. "TUK" send mom dived in without thinking. "MOM!" Kiri yelled, I turn to look at her. "Come on let's go! Go!" Spider yelled at me and kiri. "No no I can't leave!" I yelled as I was pulled "y/n! We have to go! Come on!" Kiri pulled me with all her might and I couldn't resist. We ran as the ship flipped. I saw my bow with one arrow left. I ran to grab it I saw dad struggling with Quaritch. I drew the arrow back aiming. Time seemed to slow as I did so all I could think about was neteyam I ignored the pain in my had as I drew the arrow back further. I let my fingers go and the arrow pierced Quaritchs shoulder. Dad continued to fight and I saw kiri start to struggle with climbing. I ran to her rescue and I held her up. "Come on! Hurry!" We climbed and climbed until the ship was fully flipped. As I ran faster I kept falling on the slippery surface. I fell and a pairs of metal cut my leg. I yelled out In pain. "Fuck!" The ship started to sink faster "stay together okay!" Spider said to both me and my sister. "Okay..." both me and kiri responded. The ship sunk all the way. "Ftang! Rutxe! (Stop please) help us eywa!" I turned my head as I heard a familiar call and saw lo'ak. "Yip! Yip! Yip!" I called back to my brother and he swam over on his ilu. "Mom and dad are down there! In the ship!" Kiri said her voice full of worry. "I we all grabbed on to lo'aks ilu and we rode underwater.Kiri dived off and I did the same "I'm going to try and find dad and mom" I signed in signed language. Kiri nodded and I found one of the creatures that gives breath underwater. I connected my braid and i I placed it on my back. Kiri did the same and went over to a side of the ship and prayed to eywa. She gathered the pure spirits of the ocean to light the way. She sent them out and I followed one path. I saw lo'aks ilu swim off without him on it and I kept following the atokrina. I breached the surface and saw dad and lo'ak. "Dad! Lo'ak! Are you alright!" Dad nodded. Lo'ak helped dad breathe slowing his heartbeat and i gave him the creature on my back. "This will help it gives breath underwater." We all took a deep breath and swam. Dad had trouble because he was still weak but me and lo'ak held him the whole way through. We swam to Payakan and sat on his fin. "I see you. son" dad said through his struggles to breath. I hugged payakan and held him tight. "Thank you..." after that I heard mom "ma jake!" She yelled. I saw kiri and tuk as well.  We all imbraced and sat together. "Sullys stick together..." I said my arms weak.

I carried water to our Mauri. Buckets filled to the brim. My hand was bandaged and I had been sewn up by ronal. My hand was healing I felt fine my leg wound was fine too but there was a big hole in my heart. I set the buckets down my eyes red from crying all night. I sat down next to mom as she and dad washed neteyams body for the funeral. I couldn't bring myself to look at him. It was just to painful bur I felt guilty. I wrapped him in cloth after and we all went out to the sea. We placed him in a pod and we rode him to his final resting place I swam holding onto his hand it was night all of our freckles were glowing except his. I placed my forehead on his one final time and kissed his cheek and mom and dad took him down. I held kiri and lo'aks hand. My tears mixed into the water and all I could think of was how much I missed him. His body was engulfed in light and he looked almost like he was sleeping. When we went to the spirit tree i saw a memory we shared together. It was us sitting together on a tree. "Can you sing me something" his voice sounded so soft as I held him close hugging him. "The great mother holds all her children in her heart. No matter if we are from someplace else all living things are connected. With each and every step, we take the glow of the soft planet beneath our feet. With every step we take with every breath, we fill ourselves the great mother will always watch. And remember goodbyes are all not final it is only a matter of time before, we meet, again." As I sung we lay back on the tree.
