I press myself up against the body next to mine. Blake. His presence alone puts a smile onto my face. I nuzzle my head into the crook of his neck as far as I can. Blake shuffles some but doesn't wake up. One of my legs is shoved between is which isn't too surprising for me. I've always slept on my side with a pillow in between my legs. Blake, however, is a way better cuddle-buddy than a pillow. We may be in the back of a van but, this is some grade A sleep.

I'd have stayed in this sleepy bliss if it weren't for the banging on the side of the van. I freeze up, scared. It isn't until the banging happens again that the others stir awake.

Blake's arms tighten around me, "What is it?" he grumbles in the most adorable way.

Reggie sits up and quickly peers through the window. I hear him mutter "shit" which makes me nervous.

"A cop," he tells us.

We all sit around looking at each other, knowing we need to go talk to the guy but, not sure about how it will go down.

Finally, Beth sits up, "I'll go talk to him."

Beth straightens herself up a bit and climbs to the front seat and exits out of the driver's side. We see her through the window. We quickly make ourselves presentable before following her out there.

The cop seems young. He probably hasn't been doing this for too long. He's blond with these round cheeks that may be making him look younger than he actually is. We don't have to say much as he's already talking with Beth.

I only hear key phrases like "tired" and "no hotel" and "needed to stop". She laughs, he laughs, the two honestly seem to be getting along great. Beth puts her hand on his arm as if the two were old friends.

What is she saying to this guy?

They go on chatting for a little longer. They don't even seem to be talking about this. The conversation has turned into one about a movie they've both seen.

At the end, the cop finally directs his attention to all of us, "Next time, park your van somewhere you're legally allowed to."

Not long after, he's in his car and driving away. We all look at Beth who just seems to be full of surprises.

"What did you say to him?" Reggie gapes, wondering how she got us out of that situation.

"We were just chatting," Beth tells him, not going into much detail about it. I definitely know who I'm calling if I get into any type of trouble. My first call if I'm arrested is to Beth.

"Who would've thought?" I ask myself under my breath. If it were me, I would've used Blake to try and get some type of sympathy from the cop. Maybe a made up back story about how he's slowly losing all of his senses and that sleeping in a van in a parking lot is one of his dreams. I'd like to think the cop would buy it.

Thinking about it, Beth was probably our best bet.

"Beth just keeps on surprising us," Blake says from where he's standing next to me.

I take a moment to look at him all freshly woken up. It's too cute to not smile at. His hair's all mussed up and he has to wipe the sleep from his eyes.

"Okay," Reggie pipes up, "let's get back on the road."

Beth decides to drive with Blake up front in the passenger seat. I sit behind him with Reggie next to me.

"Where are we headed?" Beth asks as she starts to drive, peaking into the rearview mirror at me.

"New Mexico," I tell her.

Beth and Reggie get into a conversation about her bull riding days as I burn a hole into the back of Blake's seat. Not too long after, I start slightly kicking at the back of his seat. He doesn't do anything at first but eventually, he turns around to the back, causing me to stop.
