"So... um are you going to be staying with your dad or like any other family?" He said to stop the silence it was kinda awkward to be honest "um no my dad left when he found out my mum was pregnant and her family practically disowned her" I replied he turned to look at me while sticking a fork full of mac n cheese into his mouth.

He looked confused and I truly don't blame him "can you keep a secret?" He nodded his head "I'm currently on the run and I ran away last night because I don't want to go into foster care" "what this is illegal."

"Yes I know and I'm sorry I didn't mean to drag you into this I'm so sorry Tommy" he looked at me I could tell that he felt bad then all of a sudden he put his bowl aside and came over and hugged me.

I couldn't help but hold my breath for a moment I'm not used to hugs me and my mum didn't really hug and there wasn't a lot of physical contact in our family. I eventually breathed out and embraced it, it gave me a warm feeling in my stomach I can't explain not a feeling like butterflies flying around in my stomach, but I knew I wasn't in love with this man then he let go of me and we made eye contact for a split second. His eyes were so beautiful they were blue like the ocean it made me feel safe, he made me feel safe.

"You can stay here for as long as we need but we need to inform authorities" I stated to panic what if they put me into foster or up for adoption or something like that. "Okay" I say as goosebumps start to form on my arms and legs " Is Jae your legal name or is it a preferred one?" He asked I could tell that he wasn't trying to be rude or anything. "Um it's a preferred name my actual name is Lia" I mumbled "okay Jae I'll make the call now" he paused "wait what's your last name?" He asked "Smith" I stated as he dialled 999.

"Hello this is 999 what's your emergency?"

"Hi um I have a friend that is on the run they are at my house"

"Okay what is there name sir?"

"Lia Smith"

"Okay what is your address?"

"133 apple road"

"Okay we will send someone out right away"

"Thank you."

My heart was beating so quickly I was scared and on the  urge of breaking down Tommy was looking at me I think he could see that my eyes were starting to water. Because next thing I know he was pulling me in for another hug and he whispered something in my ear I couldn't tell exactly what he said but it was something like "don't worry I won't let them take you from us."

Then he made another call but he didn't have this one on speaker.

"Hey man"

"Yeah they are alright I think I contacted 999 earlier."

Then he left the room and I didn't know what happened on that phone call but I was still scared. He soon came back into the room and gave me what I think was supposed to be a reassuring smile.

Soon I could hear the sirens ringing they were so close and I was staring to shake I was reaching around the pocket of my hoodie for my blade for my reassurance, but I couldn't find it Tommy gave me a look and I could tell from that that he took it.

Maybe it was for the best.

Next thing I know the police and paramedics were both banging on the front door and Tommy's mum let them in and led them to me as they walked in Tommy wrapped his pinky around mine as if he was scared to. But what could he have been scared of?

"Hi Lia I'm Shawn and this is my partner Conner" announced on of the men in the blue police uniforms. Just then Wilbur bursts in he was looking at me and I couldn't tell if he was disappointed with me or scared that they were going to take me away or both.

Then the Shawn and Conner shift their attention to him while the paramedics examined me and introduced themselves. Now there were at least ten people all in the room.

"Okay Lia are you able to take of your jumper so we can have a proper examination?"

I took a deep breath before taking my jumper of my heart was pounding knowing that I had scars from last year since I was now almost a year clean but I still bring my blade everywhere with me just in case.

The paramedics done their examinations and then my worst fear one of them were examining my arm and saw one of my scars.

"Hey what's that from?" She asked clearly knowing the answer but not wanting to admit it "I used to" I paused for a moment "I used to cut myself" I managed to stutter out she looked at me for a moment with concern "do you mind if I ask when the last time you did that was and if you have any sharp objects or anything like that on you?" She asked.

"Um the last time I did it was about a year ago" I pause and make eye contact with Tommy now I know for sure that he took it "and no I don't have any sharp objects on me." I say

"Okay" she says and they both go over to talk to the police officers.

Then Wilbur and Tommy both come over and Tommy hugs me but Wilbur just stands there and puts his hand on my shoulder. "You're gonna be okay Jae" Wilbur says "yeah we won't let them take you" Tommy buts in.

Just then the officers come over "Lia would you mind saying goodbye to your friends and accompanying us to the station?" My heart sunk and I didn't know what to do I was speechless I was scared I just sat there on the edge of  Tommy's bed.
