MADDY
I call his name again and again hoping that the sound of my voice will break into his depressed state. When he does not come back I stand and walk to the place he threw the ring and see a red velvet box laying in the soft grass. I bend down and tenderly pick up the little red box through the bush thorns and hold it in my palm. I can't help but open the lid and see the most beautiful ring I have seen in my entire life, a medium sized diamond sits in the middle with sapphires on either side with a plain gold band. I shut the box and place it in my jacket pocket and look to the amazing picnic Rhydian laid out for us. I try to remember the sound of his laughter when we wiped chocolate on each other but can't because all I remember is the sad face I saw when I said no to the love of my life. A lone tear slides down my face and I sniff. All I have wanted to do is marry Rhydian and spend the rest of my life with him but now is not the time as the war was coming closer and I couldn't stand to be put through that agony of losing my newly wedded husband. I contemplate chasing him but the thought is quickly put to the back of my mind, he needs space and I want to be the one giving it to him. I sit down next to the picnic basket and think of what he could be doing. I start walking off towards the direction he had gone and found his scent, I want to keep following but I head towards home and find him in the morning after talking to Shannon about last nights event. I walk through the trees and listen to the soft breeze and wish that Rhydian was here by my side. The front door comes into view and I saunter towards it my arms swaying by my side lazily. The house is pleasantly quiet because my dad is most likely already asleep, I climb the many stairs and reach the door to my room, I smell another scent other than my dads in the house and it is coming from my room. I get curious and open the door softly seeing a shadow sitting on my bed with their legs crossed. I growl when I identify the scent, Jana Vilkes. She huffs
"Maddy I am so very sorry about your mum, Toren told me what happened when he came back to our den, I may be sorry but I do admire the style he kills in"
"What are you doing here Jana, you lost the right to enter this house when you chucked a hissy and almost killed me!"
She laughs and shakes her head
"I was just wondering why you turned Rhydian down, he was so looking forward to marrying you and then you said no and broke his little heart"
I growl and step towards her, she puts her hands up and backs towards the window.
"I will leave just wanted you to know that you should have said yes and gotten married because after the war you won't be alive to get married"
And with that she jumps out the window and sprints off in to the night.
