Chapter 13

"What the hell do you think you are doing!" As we both walk into my house.

"Let me do what I want! I am an adult!" I scream back at him as he are in the kitchen.

"That doesn't give you a reason to fuck around with my friends!" He accuses me. Does he know about Tyler?

"I didn't 'fuck around' with any of your friends! You don't even know where I was last night so don't you dare think I was over at Niall's!"

"Then where the hell were you?" He shouts back at me. I can hear my mom coming down the stairs, probably to see what we are arguing about.

"I was at Kendal's!" I tell him. Niall and Kendal live maybe two streets away so it was a good lie.

"Whatever!" He stomps away and pushes past my mom.

"Maxwell! That is not how we act in this house." She sternly tells him and he just huffs past her.

"What is going on, Magnolia?"

"Max thinking I am trying to get with his friends." I tell her the truth as she sips her coffee.

"Why does he think that?"

"Because yesterday Niall and I were alone in the basement, during the storm, and he thought we were doing stuff."

"Were you?"

"No!" I run my hands through my knotty hair.

"Okay, I will have a talk with him then."

"Good luck with that." I leave her and walk upstairs and straight into the bathroom, to shower.

"How have you been Magnolia?" Arthur asks as we sit around a fire.

"Okay, yourself?"

"Pretty good." He answers me and then goes back to the conversation he was having with someone else.

Tonight we are at some bonfire that someone at work was throwing and I didn't have anything better to do so I just ended up coming here.

"Oh Maggie, remember that time that you fucked Jax?" She slurs as she hangs over my shoulder while looking over to Bianca, a bitch we also work with. Bianca nearly spits her drink out while she hears Harper say that.

"Wait, you fucked Jax, and now Harper is fucking him?" I nod my head and feel my face go red. "Wow, I always knew that Harper lived in your shadow, but I didn't know that she also got your slopy seconds!" She laughs while walking away.

"Seriously Harp?" I ask her while standing up and walking over to a table to get a water bottle. I look back over to the fire and Harper is on the edge of everyone, and puking up everything she just drank. I take a sip of the water and walk over to her while she wipes off her face.

"Lets go?" I ask her. She nods and we walk towards the parking lot.

She leans her head against the door and stares out the window as I drive down the freeway, back to our town. I hate always having to take care of Harper when she is drunk, but I guess it is okay when she does the same for me when I get totally wasted. 

I pull off onto our exit and wait at the light to turn green and when it does I pull out and when I do I see police lights turn on behind me. 

"For fucks sake." I cuss and Harper lifts her head up and gives me a confused look. I pull off to the side of the road and turn off the car and pull out my drivers licenses and registration. Harper looks like she is about to puke and I don't even have a clue what is going to happen in the next few minutes. 

I put the window down and the officer is standing at it. 

"Did you know that you have a break light out, ma'am?" The officer asks while looking into the car, probably at Harper. 

"No, that must have just happened." I tell him. 

"Well I need your licenses and registration and if everything checks out then I will just give you a warning at this time." I hand him over all of my stuff and he walks back to the car. 

A minute or two later he appears back at the car with my papers in his hand and hands them back to me. 

"This is a warning, you need to get that changed as soon as possible. And is everything alright with your friend there?" He then continues to ask. 

"Actually, I just had to go pick her up from a party because I didn't want her to drive home intoxicated." 

"Well than you did the right thing. Have a good night and get home safe." The officer walks back to his car and I then start mine and continue on the way home. I was just going to go to my house, but I just need some space from all of these people I see on a daily bases. 

I drive down her road and there is no one out to be seen. She was seemed to sober up a bit now that she puked everything up. I pull into her driveway and she thanks me and gets out of the car and walks to the back of her house to sneak back in. 

I drive back home and pull into the driveway and walk inside. I walk upstairs and Max's door is open and he has Jamie inside and he also has Niall, and some of his other friends from work. I walk past and go to my room and shut the door. 

I just need to get away, but I don't know where to go. I need to escape.
