A couple of weeks had past, it was now the middle of December. The four of us decided to stay at Hogwarts for Christmas, seeing as Draco too, was staying. Which of course rose more suspicion to us. But it fit perfectly with our plan, because the holidays would be the best time to use the Polyjuice potion and get a confession out of him. Luckily, Crabbe and Goyle were also staying.
Unluckily, however, we still haven't had the chance to snag the two ingredients from Snape's storeroom yet.

"What we need-" I started, one Thursday afternoon as we were walking to our double potions lesson. "Is a diversion. A big one. So that one of us can sneak into Snape's office and take what we need."
"I think I'd better do the stealing." Hermione spoke, causing the three of us to look at her, confused.
"Hermione, I can use my invisique ch-"
"Snape has been keeping too close an eye on you as of late. As has literally everyone in the castle." Hermione rose a fair point. "If you try to sneak into his storeroom, he, or someone else, is bound to catch you."
"Okay, why can't I do it?" Ron asked.
"Or me?" Harry spoke up. "I have an invisibility cloak."
"You two will be expelled if you get into anymore trouble." Hermione told them. "And I've got a clean record. So, all you need to do, Y/n, is cause just enough mayhem to keep Snape busy for five minutes."
"Ah." I nodded. "Keep out of trouble, by causing trouble."
"It's not very thought out, I know." Hermione sighed. "But you're not close to being expelled. They are."

Around an hour into the lesson, Hermione gave me the 'go time' signal. I pulled out one of Fred's Filibuster fireworks from my pocket that I'd took from Ron and walked over to Goyle, my victim, firework in hand and distracted him.
"Gregory, Draco wants you." I whispered.
"Huh?" Goyle mumbled and looked over at Draco, who had his own table. "Right now?"
"Yes, right now." I nudged him away from his cauldron. "Don't keep him waiting." As I said that, Draco looked over at us with his brows furrowed, making my lie believable.
"Okay." Goyle nodded and walked over. I turned back and dropped the firework into Goyle's cauldron before getting yelled at.
"MISS L/N!" Snape yelled, causing me to turn to the front immediately, and hide the cauldron with my body.
"Yes, sir?" I spoke innocently.
"Back to your cauldron." He was at my table, in front of my cauldron. "Crabbe, stop distracting Mr. Malfoy."
"Yes, sir." I nodded and walked slowly back to my table, watching as Crabbe did the same. Just before I joined Snape at my table, however, I watched Crabbe add an ingredient to his cauldron and muttered 'confringo', while aiming my wand through my sleeve, and watched as it blew up in his face, with pink, purple, red and blue sparks erupting with the contents of the potion. I protego'd before anything could hit me. Everyone on Goyle's table, and the surrounding area, too, were screaming as they were covered in splashes of the swelling solution. Goyle stumbled around, his hands over his eyes which had expanded to the size of dinner plates, while Snape ran past me, trying to calm everyone at the table, and Draco, down, and trying to find out what happened.
I dropped my shield spell and looked around for Hermione, and caught her slipping quietly out through the door.

"SILENCE!" Snape shouted. "Anyone who has been splashed, come to my desk for a Deflating Draught. When I find who did this-"
'𝑨𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒍𝒅𝒓𝒐𝒏.' I watched as half the class walked up to Snape's desk, some weighed down with arms like clubs, others unable to talk through gigantic, puffed up lips.
"That was-" Ron joined me at my cauldron. "Insane. How are you not covered in that potion?"
"Protego." I told him. "Shield spell." And explained at his confusion.
"That was bloody brilliant." He shook his head with a smile, and nodded to the door. "Look who's back."
Hermione walked over to her table. Ron followed after her.

"If I ever find out who put this in here-" Snape had taken out the little remains of the firework, holding it up for the whole class to see whilst the rest drank their antidotes. "I shall make sure that person is expelled."
"For sure, for sure." Crabbe was muttering to himself as his swellings went down.
"Wait until my father hears about this!" Of course, Malfoy, spat as he watched his face go back to normal in a mirror.
"L/N!" Snape called me over to his desk. "A word?"
'𝑯𝒆 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒔.' I thought to myself as I left my desk and looked over at Hermione, Harry and Ron, rightly worried.
"Quicker. I don't have all day!"
"Okay, okay." I sighed and quickened my pace, looking forward as I reached his desk. "Yes, sir?"
"Good job with the shield charm." He told me.
"Wait, what?"
"Protego. I noticed you using it as Goyle's Cauldron exploded. Almost like... You knew you would need to."
"...I heard it bubbling, I thought it would've exploded."
"You heard it bubbling?"
"Yeah." I nodded. "Y'know. Wolf hearing."
"Yet you didn't think to tell anyone?"
"It happened so quick, I had to protego myself, Sir. I didn't exactly have time to tell everyone else to. And I doubt any of those dimwits would even know how to cast it."
"Yes, considering most students usually learn it in their sixth year. How do you know how to cast it?"
"Back home-" I cut myself off and corrected myself. "Back in France, at my old school, we were taught the most reliable spells to keep us safe, a-and undetected, first. Since we were in a hidden town. For, um-"
"Cachée, the town for endangered witches and wizards, yes." Snape cut me off, nodding. "I'm aware."
"...You're aware? B-But-But no one is aware of its existence, nobody but the-"
"Ministry of Magic. I have ties."
"I don't understand. It's top secret."
"Go on, back to your desk. We're done here." He shoo'd me away, leaving me with unanswered questions. How did he know?
"Y/n, the potion will be ready in two weeks." Hermione whispered, knowing I could hear her. I walked back to my desk, giving her a nod to tell her 'okay.'
