Time really is a watery, fickle thing, isn't it?
I stand in the golden clearing, autumn blowing icy wind onto my face. Or is it icy? I can't tell. I hear rustling leaves behind me and cracking branches. Vacantly, I turn to see my visitor, allowing them a full view of my pale, lilac coloured eyes.
"Elise?" Oh my goodness – " Esther dashes towards me, tripping over herself in her haste. Grandiose spirals of chocolate fly behind her and her green eyes are bright with tears. Normally, I would have admired how she had grown to become so beautiful, but all I can think about now is how I used to be so lively and full of love; how I had coloured brown eyes, just like my father.
Esther throws her arms around me, slightly flinching at the touch of my wintery skin. Her dark lashes cling together with crystalline tears. "I thought I lost you forever and Frazer and I were so devastated – but then I had this dream..."
Her words fall on deaf ears as I raise my hands to rest on her back, ignoring her frantic words. No, only one thought circles through my mind. I restrain a smile.
This will be easy.
