"The fuck?"

The school day went like any other day, as I walked to my car I felt Vik walking by my side. He made it a habit to run to school in his wolf form as his wolf could be pretty unhinged on most days. And at the end of every school day, I would drive him home.

He was good at almost anything he tried.  But the bean pole couldn't drive for shit which is ironic because he was the one who helped me study for my own test.

We hopped in the car as I was talking about nothing in particular I got cut off by someone who was leaning down looking at me through the driver's seat window "Hey cutie! I was wondering if you had any plans for your birthday" she giggled with a bright smile. It was Maylee

"Not really Vik's dad is throwing him some big mating party and I think I'll just tag along"

"Hmm that's a shame maybe we could just celebrate me and you" the smile never leaving her face

Is she flirting? Do I flirt back, do I even know how to flirt?

"The fuck?" Vik mumbled I glanced at him to tell him to shut up

"Like a date?" I answered back slightly confused. Maylee never had a conversation with me other than just a polite hi every now and then.

Maylee was one of the very few humans in this town. She was beautiful by most standards with silky black hair that reached her shoulders, but way too smiley for my taste...

"Uhhh, well i -"

"He's busy" Vik answered for me a flicker of amber in his eyes

"Oh um i didn't say when" the smile she held dropping for a split second

"That's unfortunate, you can walk away now"
Vik reached across me and pressed to window button.

I looked back at Maylee apologetically as the window rolled up slowly. but I have to admit Vik saved me out there.

I have never been on a date or had a girlfriend.

As an alpha it is tradition to wait for your mate regardless of gender or status they are who you are meant to be with. The only downside is that you don't get to explore your sexuality. I've spent 17 years of my life watching people around me fall in love or just date for the hell of.

" I've never been on a date before"

"Oh yeah okay...when I meet my mate I will be clueless, where would i even take them -
What if I mess up and when is the right time for a first kiss?"

"It's not a big deal"

"It is a big deal to me!"

We just listened to the radio as the air got a little bit tense, 10 minutes went by of no word being shared which i should be used to by now

As we backed into the driveway of my home Vik let out the longest sigh "I will take you"

"Huh?"

"On a date, I will take you for experience purposes or whatever"

I leaped forward and gave him a hug. My body erupted in a warm feeling.
It felt like home but was quickly cut short

I know i am a possessive friend but deep down there is this need to protect him Alpha or not.

Lately that feeling has gotten stronger and my wolf has been growing restless whenever Zak is around
"Hey you kinda zoned out on me there buddy" he waved his hands in front of my face

"Oh sorry I just haven't gotten a lot of sleep lately"

"Do you want to spend the night here? I have new favourite band that i think you will love and  we could go to training together" those puppy dog eyes of his almost persuading me

Yes i want nothing more  "No I'm okay" What is wrong with me?

"Great so we... wait, no?" His enthusiasm melting into confusion and a hint of disappointment. Its safe to say golden boy here hardly hears the words no. And i could maybe count the times I've told him so on one hand.

The instinct to run weighed heavy on my chest, I planted a kiss yo his forehead and headed out before he could say anything else. "Catch you bright and early Riah"
