Zia got pregnant when she was 16. The Dad left before she could tell him. She didn't let her situation stop her from living her life and pushed through everything to still graduate high school. She lived with her mother, younger brother and son, until she decided that she no longer wanted to burden and stress her mother, so she took Ryan and left. They moved to Miami, where Zia focused on motherhood and once Ryan turned 2 years old, she started working odd jobs to pay bills and keep herself busy. When Ryan turned 5 years old, Zia realized she missed her family and called her mother to ask if she could come home, to which Melissa burst with joy at being able to see her daughter and grandson again. So, Zia packed up her's and Ryan's stuff, before heading back to Beacon Hills, having no idea that someone from her past was there too.
