Unwanted

"Bye mom, love you."

"I'll be back soon, be good okay?"

"Yes mom, tell that to Aki."

"Aki be good to your younger sister. Two of you work hard together, can you do that while mommy's away?"

"Yes."

"I love you both so much, I have to go."

And that was the last time I saw my mom. The best in the whole world. Now I am left with my Brother, living with our smoking aunt and drunk uncle with their 2 annoying girls.

We heard that our dad, married again has 3 boys and moved somewhere. Now me and my brother both have scholarships, and that's how we practically live. We live in the basement. Left with a single bed with a single "fluffy" pillow for the both of us, a mini- kitchen, a bathroom, a tv, a really old air conditioner but it still works, and all different kinds of creatures. Left with 2 million and 300 thousand dollars, for almost our lives. Our Aunt Uncle practically think we are not worth it. I am just 11 years old and my brother is 15 turning 16 tomorrow, the day that my mom died, the day my dad left, the day that we were left with our pathetic, dumb, annoying aunt and uncle.

"Time to wake up." Aki shouts while taking out the blanket.

"What's for breakfast?" I ask.

"Bread and jam or jam and bread?" He jokes.

"Either."

"Hey check the news." Aki replies

"Kk."

The news is practically about orphans, left without parents. They feel unwanted, like us. We are practically not orphans, just abused. I felt bad, and so I changed the program. Now it's about a plane crash, how mom died. It put me to tears, even my brother. I felt like changing it too, and so I did. Now, news about class suspension, I think that's best news, among the rest.

"What do you want to do today?" Aki asks. "It raining, inside today?"

"Sounds good." I reply.

We end up playing cards, finding a carpet, and going outside. When we went to the mall, we found ourselves winning a black iPhone 5, to share. And it's still 3:00 pm. My brother takes a nap, I watch the Big Bang Theory, and I think on what to do for my brother's birthday. Time to make dinner, bacon, eggs and rice, it's practically like breakfast.

"Time for dinner!" I say waking up my brother. I eat on the small working table we found, and my brother eats on the floor, while watching Cake Boss, he earns a lot. When I finished washing the dishes, I started looking around and saw my moms old box, what could be inside it? I find a toy car, a 50 dollar bill and a letter.

"Hey Aki! Look what I found, a letter from mom."

"What does it say?"

"My 2 beautiful kids, 

I thank God for giving me both of you. It is a big and wonderful blessing, without you, I would be nobody. I want you to finish your studies before anything else. Studying is rare in some countries, not everybody has it. Make every time worth it. This letter may be short, but I feel that it has meaning. If I would not be here anymore, take care of each other. Remember, love comes from within. I love both of you equally, no more, no less.

We sleep at 11:00 thinking about it, anyway tomorrow is a Friday, meaning no school. I slept earlier. My brother was still watching The Magic of Science on National Geographic.

I had a dream, about my mom. Me and Aki was trapped in a hour glass and she was wrapped around a bomb, if either one of us moves or leaves the other one died. She told us to do it, she shouted, I love you. I woke up screaming, my brother was still awake. He gave me a hug and said it was just a dream. He put me to sleep with the song which my mom sang, every night when I have nightmares. I feel asleep immediately.

I woke up earlier than my brother for his birthday gift, I made 3 pancakes, stacked them up like a cake and put a candle. He woke up with a smile, As I sang Happy Birthday. I gave him a hug, it was his first birthday since mom died. We ate the pancakes with honey. And then we played games, like Marco Polo, we actually had fun. Happy Birthday Aki!

You might be wondering that it is illegal for minors to live alone, we are practically "living with" our uncle and aunt, just not existing in their lives. Today is Saturday April 29th my dads birthday, wondering if he is celebrating right now, living in his big gigantic house with his new un-abandoned family. To celebrate my brother and I went to a water spa, it felt kind of good. I bumped into a guy with a familiar face, he looked liked my dad. He said he was sorry and then his pathetic child ran to him and said that their mom was looking for him. I ran to my brother, pointed to him and he said he was my dad. My dad said to never talk to him or even mind to look for him. So we left the pool, took a shower and left. After went to the supermarket and bought food. I just .sat inside inside the cart and my brother pushing the cart. I was in the middle of a pile of junk. After checked out, went home and started stuffing it inside the cabinets, taking the plastic wraps off, and thinking will this fill 2-3 months?
