It had been one month since [Name] started The Hula Hale in Metro City. People loved it. They always came in and enjoyed her food, giving her compliments and praising the food. It wasn't the best restaurant, but it was a good place to come and relax, grab a bite to eat, and drink. When July hit, the temperatures rose just a tad. It was like Hawaii; usually around 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Plus, [Name] had completed her special taekwondo lessons from Juri Han, who never spoke about her life outside of street fighting. It was too much.
Now, [Name] was at the beach while music played behind her. There was a beach party going on. As much as she wanted to join, she wanted to take in the New York scenery. "Wah yuh ah duh out here? Follow mi an join di party!"
She looked behind her to see someone. He had shoulder-length dreadlocks and wore a light red headband. He wore a red, yellow, and black open mini jacket with green fern designs. His pants were green with cross black and yellow linings and wore beach sandals rather than barefoot. Dee Jay's fingerless gloves were yellow and red with two white linings. The color scheme of his pants resembled the color of the Jamaican flag. He even spoke with an accent; a Jamaican one. "Oh, uh... No, thank you. I'm trying to wrap my head around all that's been going on lately," [Name] replied.
The man nodded and sat down beside her. So this man was Jamaican. It made sense from the color scheme and his accent. She hadn't seen one in forever! "Ow yuh like it here?" he asked.
"It's cool. I've met so many people. Including Luke, Jamie, Chun-Li, and–"
"Chun-Li a waah gud bredren of fi mi wi guh way back!"
He went on, saying his name was Dee Jay. [Name] told him her story, now that he accommodated her; her arrival, struggles, meeting his friend Chun-Li, Jamie, and the times she got attacked by the Mad Gear Gang. "Yuh get attack twice?! Eff mi did there I'd show dem a gud time!" Dee Jay said, crossing his arms.
He chuckled afterward, looking at the horizon. "By di way Ken tell mi yuh wudda cum by. Here an nuh be late," he said and then got up to join the party behind [Name].
She looked to find a letter on her lap. Opening it, the penmanship was somewhat nice, and somewhat sloppy as if the sender was in a hurry.
"Hey kid,
You may not know me, but my name's Ken Masters. I'm from the USA, where you're also technically from. Anyways, let me get to the point. I don't have much time, but tonight, you're invited to Hong Hu Lu for a sleepover. It's to welcome you and celebrate the first month of your living here in Metro City. Hopefully, we'll see you there!
-Ken"[Name] grinned from ear to ear, her heart beating. This was going to be so much fun!
...
That same day, Chun-Li was cleaning the rooms to prepare for the sleepover. Li Fen was also helping. "Did you send an invite to everyone?" she asked.
"Mhmm. Ryu's coming, Ken for sure, [Name], Luke, and who knows who else? I haven't received any other responses," Chun-Li replied.
Li Fen smiled and went to get her pajamas on, which were a blue and yellow dragon onesie. "Are we going to do movies? Games? Food? Scary stories? What'll we do, jiejie?" she inquired.
Chun-Li hadn't thought of that. She set her broom down and also sat, pondering. "Well... We can watch movies. I wonder if anyone will have one in mind. Second, sure, we can play games. Monopoly, Uno, or maybe some old-school Super Mario or Sonic. ... I don't think Luke would want to hear scary stories. He hates scary games anyway," she replied.
"Oh."
The girls continued their cleaning. They were hosting, and it was up to them to make everyone feel welcome and safe. "Jiejie, I figured it out. Luke mentioned that Jamie was protective over [Name], and I couldn't help but notice her blushing when they first met."
