ONE | Inconvenience at Convenience

Peke-J Land was about to close and hadn't had a customer in over an hour. The store was quiet and Kazutora was excited to be able to lock up, clock out and head home. The shelves were stocked, the leashes were organized by color and the bone-shaped treat tubs were stocked to the brim. Everything was in order for Chifuyu to open the next morning.

All of a sudden, the front door bell rang as someone entered the shop. The sound sent a surge of annoyance through Kazutora. He sighed and with a stern - yet polite tone he tells the customer,

"I'm sorry but we close in just a few minutes, you'll have to come back to-" Just then he paused as he looked up to see what he could have mistaken for an angel.

"Oh my - I'm so sorry! I didn't realize it was so late. We just moved down the street and it's been a very long day." The angel's face went sad. "I can come back to-"

"No! It's okay. I can help you." Kazutora says, smiling.

She was relieved that he was being so nice after the day she had.

"Are you sure? That's so kind of you." She says with a smile back, her light pink hair falling over her shoulders as she tilted her head slightly.

"Of course! My name is Kazutora by the way. What can I help you with?"

"It's nice to meet you! I'm Sakura. Um...actually, I have kind of a problem. You see, my cat hasn't adjusted well to the move. As soon as I let him out of his crate, he ran into the deepest, darkest part of the closet and he won't come out." She explains.

Kazutora listened, but had to keep forcing himself to as he was completely mesmerized by her. He hadn't felt this way before. Sure, cute girls came into the store all the time, but this one was mysterious.

"Have you or your boyfriend tried luring him out with food?" He asks.

She looked at him confused.

"My - boyfriend?" She says.

"I'm sorry, you said we just moved here. I assumed you meant you and your boyfriend - er - partner?" He said, slightly embarrassed.

"Oh! No! I meant me and my cat! His name is Twig." She says, blushing.

"What kind of cat is he?" He asks.

"Uh...a fat gray one? I'm not really sure. I found him in a box on the side of the road. He was just skin and bones then, hence the name Twig." Sakura pulled out her phone from her pocket and pressed the side button to reveal her lock screen. Then she turned it to show Kazutora.

"Oh...he is fat. Not much of a twig anymore. More like a stump." He laughs.

She frowns in offense.

"Don't say that, he is very sensitive about his weight." She says, locking her phone and putting it back in her pocket.

Kazutora became somewhat annoyed. So she's one of those cat people...

"I'm...sorry?" He says.

"No! I'm kidding! I fat-shame him all the time." She laughs and Kazutora rewards with a pity laugh.

"So, have you tried to lure him out with food then?" He asks to get back to the point.

"Yes, and it didn't work surprisingly."

"Hm...does he have a bed or a blanket he likes to sleep with?

"He has a blanket. I put it in the closet with him but he hasn't moved on to it yet."

"That's okay. I say just give him some time to adjust. Keep visiting him and offering to pet him. Eventually, he will start to venture out as he gets more comfortable." He smiles.

This made her feel warm and fuzzy. It was nice to see how much he cared to help her out. It was even sweeter that he considered Twig's feelings as well. Okay, and maybe she was one of those cat people.

"Do you have enough food?" He asks.

"No, actually I only managed to bring one can and I opened that to try and lure him out. I have a picture on my phone of it so you can see if you carry it." She takes out her phone once again to reveal the image of cat food.

"Yes! We do. Right over here." He walks over to the box he had almost finished stocking and pulls out a few cans. "Is that all?"

"For now, yes. If I need anything else, I know where to find you!" She says with a smile.

They both walk to the registers and he begins ringing her up. He tells her the total and she taps her card to pay. As she is doing this, he begins to bag the cans in a small paper bag.

It was then she really started to study him. There is no doubt that as soon as she walked into the store, the very first thing she noticed was how attractive Kazutora was. He had mostly dark hair with blonde highlights throughout. His hair was tied back into a low bun with two pieces falling out at the front. Dangling from his right ear was a bell, similar to a cat's. His eyes were kissed by gold and he possessed almost feminine-like features. Her favorite part, however, was a tiny mole that sat just under his left eye. Yep, he was gorgeous.

"Thank you. I really appreciate you keeping the store open a little longer for me." She tells him.

"Of course." He says, flashing the most adorable smile.

Sakura walks to the front of the store and opens the door only to be greeted by a ground-shaking burst of thunder followed by a downpour of heavy rain.

She stood there slowly shaking.

"Uh -" She hesitated.

Kazutora laughs.

"Hold on, I just need to close the register and lock up and I can drive you home if you're okay with that?" He tells her, hoping he didn't sound creepy.

She stood there nervous. Was that really a good idea? I mean I only just met him and even though he was beautiful, it doesn't mean he isn't capable of kidnapping...or murder.

"Sure..." She said, slightly terrified. "Promise you're not gonna murder me right?

"I promise." He chuckles.

🖤A/N: Hello everyone! Okay so first I'd like to point out that this is the OC version of My Promise. I also have a reader version posted in case anyone wants to read it from that POV!

This is the only story I will be doing that with. I found that I really enjoy writing stories with an OC rather than readers. Just my preference!

But I will keep the reader version of this story up and will update it along with this one 🫶🏻

It's been a bit since I've updated this story because I have been playing Tears of the Kingdom during all my downtime. But I will be working on this soon! I promise 😉

I will wrap this up with one or two more chapters and from there, it will be "one shot" style with random stories of their day to day lives.

Also in the works, I've got a handful of one-shots with multiple TR characters and two full stories, one for Mikey and one for Baji.
