'Humans. Humans are the worst thing that ever happened to this world. Many of them are so greedy. They always want more and more. Who am I kidding, they want it all.' She thought, cleaning the floor with a broom.
Walking past a mirror she looked at her exhausted self. Stopping in front of the mirror her green eyes scanned her features. Golden blonde hair braided into pigtails. She definitely was an average height, exactly 170 centimetres tall. She was wearing one of her favourite dresses, one sewn by her mother, while Ohelia personalised it by embroidering daisies, her favourite flower, on the dress.
Just a few moments before, a woman had come to the shop. The woman had travelled the whole way from the capital Lumina to Vanora, to buy magical herbs that would make her look younger. After Ohelia had told her the price for such a plant, the customer threw a tantrum. After Ohelia didn't show a reaction, the woman kicked a shelf filled with seeds, causing it to fall over, the seeds scattered on the floor. After that the customer left the shop. "And she didn't even pay for the mess she made," Ohelia sighed.
While she was still cleaning, someone came in the door. "Need some help?" they asked. Recognising the voice she looked at the person. "Eirin!" she energetically called, dropping the broom, running over and hugging her friend. He had been in the kingdom of Kvinta the last few months and was now back. Outside was their other friend Averie, who all three together made a perfect trio.
Closing the shop early, the three friends went for a walk, forcing Eirin to tell all of his stories about his travels, and his work as a magician, people not knowing that he just could do magic. "Oh, that's right. I found that cookbook that you wanted," he said, giving the book to Averie, who instantly took it and gave a quick "thank you". Looking at Ohelia, he opened his mouth to say something. But before any word came out, loud sounds came from inside the village.
All three curiously going closer, stopping upon noticing a man holding a piece of paper. "Asteabia has declared war against Lureca. Them having a bigger and better army, we stand no chance." He recited. Looking up, he glanced over the group of people surrounding him. "But with magic, we will have the higher ground. Because of that our good natured ruler, King Espen has asked for nothing less than fifteen of you, magic bearers, to participate in this conflict." Ohelia grinned, filling out the complete silence with her own thoughts. 'Magic bearers. That is one way to phrase it.'
A tisk was heard from the man. "We will have fifteen people ready in the next few days," he said.
After he left, conversations were being held all over town about what he had said.
Eirin, changing the subject, looked at Ohelia. "I also have something for you," he said smiling. "I know how fond you are of sewing and embroidering, and all that other stuff. So while being in Kvinta, I found the most beautiful fabric and knew that you must have it. It is currently at my house." The three of them went to his home, he took the light blue fabric and gave it to the girl. Happy for the gift she got, Ohelia gave her friend a grateful smile, before she began feeling the soft fabric.
"What a wonderful gift," she whispered, only just hearable.
As Ohelia was walking home, she took in the beauty of the surrounding nature. Slowly walking up a hill, she arrived at her house.
Opening the front door, she was welcomed by the smell of food. Going upstairs to her room she put down the fabric she had gotten from Eirin, before going down again and into the kitchen. Seeing her father cooking, she sat down at the table.
